ethical teacher codes of conduct in their development as
professional teachers.
2. Professional Knowledge: The teacher should understand
how children develop and learn in diverse contexts
(cultural, linguistic, socio-economic and educational
backgrounds) and apply this in their teaching.
3. Professional Practice: The teacher should employ a
repertoire of learning strategies in order to meet the
learning needs of all children through the application of
relevant resources.

Relevance of the School Curriculum to the
Teacher
Teachers’ knowledge in the curriculum will help them to recognize
and prioritize the needs and aspirations of societies.
It will help teachers to identify and understand the learning needs of
learners and apply teaching accordingly (Methodology).
It will help teachers to see the need to engage in creative and dialogic
instructional practices.
Teachers will recognize and respect the diverse backgrounds of
learners.
It will enable teachers to address the need to promote an inclusive
educational system where individual strengths and potentials are
valued and maximised,
The curriculum informs teachers about the ultimate goal of the entire
educational program and to work diligently towards it.
The teacher is obliged to instill in learners the importance of making
responsible choices relating to the environment and climate.
