3 Hunger Games Paragraphs
Write three paragraph of 100 to 125 words each and 4 to 7 sentences. Each paragraph needs a creative title and
catchy hook or first sentence. Do your best to avoid the words I, you, our, we, you, your. Write about your topic, not you.

Choose a Hunger Games district (1 thru 12) you’d prefer based on your skills and personality for work Forget the
Hunger Games angle. Just which would be best-case scenario for your skills, personality and sanity to work. No
guarantees what kind of job, you only know what they do there generally, but you can make suggestions about
what might suit you based on that general topic. Mention your skills and personality and character traits in the
writing.
Choose a Hunger Games district (1 thru 12) where you’d prefer to live based on the current U.S., and parts of
Canada and Mexico. Again, forget the Hunger Games angle that Districts 1 and 2 are rich. They are still rich but
you are basing it on geography. Take note Florida and California are messed up (see map on slide 3). You may
not choose Missouri unless you explain how you’d live elsewhere in the district that encompasses our state.
The games makers want you to design a new super animal by combining two current animals. The rules for your
experiment: the animals must be real and somewhat compatible, so a whale-rat doesn’t make sense based on
size and the land and water thing. You must explain how your animal would enhance or better the games. You
must also name your new hybrid.
Due: Friday, Feb. 3 (word count: 300 to 375 total)
Paragraph Structure
Creative Title: take it out of the paragraph, remember to use proper capitalization
1st sentence or hook: grab reader’s attention with something creative, interesting,
practical or a profound fact or idea.
Sentences 2 through 5, 6 and/or 7: should build on sentence one.
Final sentence: should provide closure for the thought
Grammar/Spelling: Put your document through grammar/spelling check, have a classmate
read it and make some suggestions and criticisms, both positive and negative.
Editing: Paragraphs must have a rewrite and a peer edit from a classmate in the freshman
class.
