SESSION 1: MANDATE, VISION, MISSION, CORE VALUES (VMV), AND
STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS
Reflection Questions:
After going through this lesson, (DepEd Mandate, Vision, Mission, Core Values,
and Strategic Directions), answer in your journal the following questions:
1. In what concrete ways has this session helped you become a more agentive
teacher in promoting “learner-centered” teaching?
This session help me to become more agentive teacher in promoting
learner-centered teaching in ways that I must be sensitive enough
to the needs and interests of the learners and cater their individual
potentials through varied instructional learning styles.
2. How has this session helped you clarify your vision and motive in serving
your learners better and in promoting a learner-centered environment for
them?
It helps me to reflect again on what is my main task as a leader in
order to mold my students into betterment.
3. What is the impact of the Department Mandate, VMV and Strategic
Directions in your vocation as a teacher? How can your understanding of
DepEd’s Mandate and VMV provide impact to your work as a teacher?
The Department Mandate had impacted me so much because it
clearly states what are the rules that I must obey and observed. In
the Strategic Directions also, a teacher must be enthusiastic, to
think critically on the solutions because he/she provides quality
education.
4. What are your personal beliefs and values that are aligned with the DepEd’s
VMV?
I believe that every child has a right and ways to learn and acquire
new things, by that, teacher must be learner-centered for the child
to achieve and obtain his/her highest potentials and talents.
Because I also believe that the end-point of all the mandate and
DepEd’s VMV, is for the childs’ betterment.
5. How can you contribute to improve quality and relevance in education?
I can contribute in so many ways, I can make myself equipped with
additional knowledge through attending graduate studies, not just
for my own credit but most especially, I must reenroll again for me
to become more effective teacher to them, my students.
II. SESSION 2: DEPED ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE AND SCHOOL PROCESSES
Reflection Questions:
Journal Writing. Share your thoughts on the following:
1. What is the importance of knowing the DepEd organization structure and
school processes in the performance of your duties as a teacher?
It is clearly important because without knowing the DepEd
organization structure, a teacher would become a free-floating
yatch in the wide ocean, nowhere to run, nobody to ask.
2. Why should a teacher know who to approach in addressing concerns related
to his or her duties?
A teacher must know who to approach in order for the teacher to
have a proper implementation of what he/she is planning for the
betterment of the learners and of the school.
III. SESSION 3 TEACHING AS A PROFESSION AND AS A VOCATION
Reflection Questions:
As a newly hired teacher, I am already manifesting the following qualities
like a more compassionate heart, a good influencer to other people especially
to the young ones, a well-balanced time for the accomplishment of tasks on
time, to put myself in right and sound mind when I am under pressure with my
loads and in any extra activities. However, I need to improve my qualities in
classroom management because I am more confident in discussing a certain
topics when I will improve my classroom management.
IV. SESSION 4: PHILIPPINE PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS (PPST)
As a teacher, what are the indicators under beginning stage that you can do? Is it
possible that you can move to the higher career stage? Knowing where you are, what
professional development goals could you prepare based on your strength and areas for
improvement?
I will not focus in the indicators that I find easy but to a difficult one. The
indicators that I find difficult to execute are the number 6 “Uses differentiated,
developmentally appropriate learning experiences to address learner’s gender,
needs, strengths, interests and experiences” and number 3 “ Applies a range
of teaching strategies to develop critical and creative thinking, as well as
other higher-order thinking skills”. It is possible really that I can move to the
higher career stage because I will equip myself with the requirements needed
for the next career stage.
Based on the results of the self-assessment tool, make a professional development plan.

V. SESSION 5: CAREER PATH WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
Reflection:
Choose ONE of the two writing prompts to write a well-developed response in paragraph
form.
Magdrawing ra kaw .
1. From your map, choose two events to write about. Consider the following
questions when writing about each of these: why did you choose to include
this event on your map? How will this event affect your pursuit for professional
development? OR
2. From your map, choose your top future entry (goal) and clearly describe what steps
you could take to help you reach this goal (minimum of three steps). Describe what
resources you would need to meet these goals. Why is it important for you to achieve
such professional growth?
VI. SESSION 6: MAGNA CARTA FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS
Reflection:
In the Department of Education, we are saddened to hear news of malpractices of
teachers in the profession. Let us uplift ourselves and our profession. Write your
commitment to complete the paragraph below.
As member of the DepEd learning community, I commit myself to help realize
the DepEd mission and vision. I promise to uplift the value of learning to my
students, and give them activities that they might use to real life settings. I
will not only teach them what are in the books, but most importantly, how can
they make abstract into concrete in their lives. Yes, it is a big challenge in my
part but, I am in this institution, not just to be called a teacher, but also to
serve as an inspiration to the young generations. With this, I commit my life
and all that I am, from this day, until the last of my breath. So help me God.
VII. SESSION 7: CODE OF ETHICS
Reflection:
Study the following situations. Choose the best option by putting a check on the space
provided for each choice. Explain your answer.
Situation no. 1 Being a person known for his integrity and credibility, Mr. Elbert R.
Tolentino has been serving as part of the Board of Election Canvassers for the past 10
years. However, in the coming elections, his mother will be running as barangay captain.
Because of this, he is asked to campaign for her. Is it alright for him to campaign for his
mother’s candidacy? Explain your answer.
Even the situation changed, a teacher must not indulge her/himself in any
political events.
Situation no. 2 Mr. Mario Ocampo, who has been teaching for the last 25 years, refused
to attend an important conference in Mindanao. Every time he is asked by the principal
to attend such an activity, he always requests a new teacher to attend. As a professional
teacher, is it right to express refusal in attending conferences.
It depends on the reason of the teacher, but for me, the Principal knows the
strength and weaknesses of the teachers within his/her concern, maybe he/she
always requested Mr. Ocampo, because the Principal sees that Mr. Ocampo
needs this one for his/her improvement and knowledge.
Situation no. 3 Ms. Rose Q. Reyes posted two-piece swimwear picture of herself in her
Facebook page. She received negative comments from the community and stakeholders.
Ms. Reyes justified that she has the right to post anything on her Facebook account since
it was her personal account. Is it right for Mrs. Reyes to do such?
Based from the Code of Ethics of a Professional Teacher, a teacher must uphold
at all cost, being a model of the community because he/she holds a great
influence in the community, especially to the young ones. So for me, it is not
right, even if it is your personal account, still, you are an entrusted model of
the community, so be it.
Situation no. 4 During barangay fiesta, Mr. Ben Y. Maya was designated as the fiesta
directorate chairman. Because of his talent, he accepted the task willingly even without
any honorarium. He facilitated culture-based activities that made their barangay fiesta a
significant one. Is it alright for Mr. Maya not to receive any compensation for his services
rendered since this will be a precedent for the succeeding activity coordinator?
For me it is solely the decision of Mr. Maya, and the coordinator should tell the
arrangement to Mr. Maya beforehand.
Situation no. 5 Mrs. Dae P. Habalo, of Sibulan National High School refused to admit a
student for not being a resident of the said barangay where the school is located. Is it
right for her to do so?
The decision of Mrs. Habalo is not right, because there is a policy that every
school should not say no to any students who wants to enroll in the school
weather the student is not a resident in the barangay.
Situation no. 6 Traditionally, a civic parade is held with school participating during
Independence Day. All teachers and students are required to attend. All of Mrs. Katherine
Y. Sedillo’s students are excited to join the said parade but she did not join them due to
personal reason and only asked the president of the class to check the attendants of his
classmates. Is the decision of Mrs. Sedillo not answerable for any untoward incident to
happen to the students?
The teacher should not neglect his/her obligations at all times, even the
situation tells his/her to. In the situation above, it is alright to Mrs. Sedillo to
ask other teacher to look upon her students, and that teacher should abide to
it honestly, not to the class president strictly.
Situation no. 7 Madam Estelita Ramos, a teacher III at Malunta Elementary School has a
takehome pay of P 7,500.00 every month. She decided to borrow money from Provincial
Savings Bank with a monthly deduction of P3,500. In the same month she also borrowed
money to First Diamond Lending Company with a monthly deduction of P 3,500.00. In the
first 2 months she enjoyed a take home pay of P7,500.00 because the 2 lending
institutions will deduct on the 3rd month from the date she borrowed. Is it alright for Mrs.
Ramos to borrow the amount considering that she don’t have enough take home pay
when the deduction will take effect?
For me, I am not in favor to the way she manage her money, it will make me
sick really .
Situation no. 8 Mr. Ricky dela Cruz is one of the youngest teacher in Silab Community
High School. Due to his young age he has lots of friends and barkadas. After school
hours, he is always seen with his friends in an internet café playing Dota, in gambling
dens, and in beerhouses. He also frequently seen in discos during weekends. Is Mr. Cruz
acting as a good model to his students?
Being friends with the students is fine, but too much of it might give you
headaches. So for me, as a teacher, we must not forget to draw a line between
you and the students, but also see to it to have a good and kind heart to the
learners.
VIII. SESSION 8: RESULTS-BASED PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (RPMS)
Reflection:
Reflect on the following questions.
1. Recall your experience on how you have accomplished your previous IPCRF and
learning activities and assessment. What insights have you learned from them?
Before the preparation of my IPCRF, I find it difficult to comply, but as I
am in the middle of it, I find it easier because, when you are abiding to be
a good teacher, and all a teacher should prepare, from class lists at the
beginning of the school year, to the checking of SF1, SF5, Form 137 and
Form 138, you can actually find the evidences that the IPCRF dictates.
2. Are there other interventions you need to continuously improve yourself? Cite
examples.
Yes, the way I organize things to be included in the IPCRF. Next school
year, I must see to it that everything is on track and organized.
3. In a form of a journal, write your synthesis of learning gained from this lesson and the
points that challenge and inspire you as a newly hired teacher.
XI. SESSION 9: SALARIES, WAGES, AND BENEFITS OF TEACHERS
Reflection:
“I AM VALUED AND REWARDED”
Write insights gained and perceived on teacher’s entitlements benefits, rewards, and
recognition.
The top benefit of teaching is the difference you make in the lives of your
students. While there are plenty of challenges, the days where your lesson
goes better than planned, a student proclaims you the best teacher of all time,
or you witnessed a struggling student have “a-ha moment” after your special
demonstration, will leave you feeling like teaching isn’t work-it’s a rewarding
passion.
Even the most difficult day of teaching will provide you with some positive
experiences. You can be confident knowing you have chosen a career that truly
helps others. In the words of former first lady, Laura Bush, “ my advice is
simple: become a teacher…The challenges of teaching are outnumbered only
by the rewards that come from helping children realize their dreams.”
It is truly remarkable to become a teacher not just from the salary you get but
also, in being a true teacher.

SESSION 2: PERSONAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Reflection: In your journal, write concrete ways that would help you become a better
teacher.
In my opinion, a better teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This
is because only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When
a teacher strives hard for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a
teacher would also affect and students would not be able to enjoy lessons as well.
Another point that makes a better teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers
should not get upset or even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong
in their studies. Instead, they should have the patience to slowly coach them, give
them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage them.
SESSION 3. FINANCIAL LITERACY
Reflection: Portfolio Making
o In every plan that you make, you are asked to make a reflection. Put them in a portfolio.
o At the end of the year, reflect on how this session affects you as a person and as a
teacher in terms of your financial status.
o State your commitment on what you will do for the next year.
o You are encouraged to do the suggested plans the next year around or improve them if
you wish.
SESSION 4: HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAM
Reflection: Journal Writing
o In what concrete ways does the session help me become a more health concious teacher
in promoting a positive health habit?
“Health consists with temperance alone” (Alexander Pope). When trying to create a
modification in your health as a teacher, consistency is needed. To have consistency
you need temperance. A healthy lifestyle is not going on diets. A diet is defined as
restricting oneself to a special course of foods in order to lose weight over a specific
amount of time. A problem with diets is the “yo-yo effect”. This is where a person
goes through a cycle of repetitive loss and gaining of body weight. This is not a way
of achieving a healthy life, but just a way to believe you are. Temperance is the most
consistent virtue needed when trying to achieve a healthy lifestyle. Temperance is
abstaining from the desires of greatest pleasures. These pleasures can be found in
the consumption of food and drinks. They are a result of mainly the sense of touch.
While the rest of the senses follow after. For example, the smell of food, it is creating
power to the pleasurable operation of items that are interrelated to the sense of
touch. Temperance, therefore, applies to living a healthy lifestyle.
SESSION 5: GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT (GAD)
Reflection:
Journal Writing
In what concrete ways does the session help me become a more agentive teacher in
promoting gender-fair classroom setting.
The following are my ways to become more agentive teacher in promoting genderfair classroom setting:
 Challenge traditional male and female stereotypes when giving examples to
students, e.g. ‘a female soldier’ or ‘a male nurse’.
 When you do see/hear examples of gender stereotypes use them as an
opportunity for ‘teachable moments’ and ask students to discuss what they
mean and why they use them.
 Aim to use gender neutral language (e.g. it, their, they).
 Avoid statements that generalize, ‘girls tend to…’ or ‘boys are more…’
 Don’t limit what you ask your students to do, e.g. ask female students to carry
sports equipment

them as unique persons?
All of us have unique characteristics. As a teacher, I am aware of every
unique characteristics of my students. And I always planned lessons that
caters their different potentials.

D. Complete the following statements:
I can be more effective teacher when I give my best every day, not just in
molding them intellectually, but most importantly by guiding them to
discover their true potentials and interests alongside with proper values.
I realized that the crucial role I play in the life of my learners is to be a
Mother/Ate to them. Given this fact, I will see to it that I will look upon
them every step of the path they are taking, and always reminding them to
do their best in everything.
I can be a better teacher when I can use and equipped myself with strategies
and methods in teaching that I’ve been studying in my preparation years,
also in involving myself in seminars/trainings that is suited for me.
SESSION 3 INCLUSIVE EDUCATION WITH THE K-12 CURRICULUM (EMILY POMOY)
Reflection:
1. What were your thoughts or ideas about inclusive education prior to the
discussion of this lesson?
For me, prior to the discussions of Inclusive Education, it is a continuous
process which battles against all kinds of discrimination and exclusion.
2. What new ideas did you learn after taking up this lesson?
I learned that schools are not only one place for learning, but, rather, the
purpose of the school is to support learning in all environments.
3. How did you apply your teaching about inclusive education in your own
classroom?
I applied Inclusive Education in my own classroom, by giving special
attention to students who low performing in my class. In my vacant time, I
spent ample of my time, reviewing them, asking them what they find most
difficult lesson for the day, and I do my best to simplify those, for them to
not be left behind their classmates the next day.
SESSION 4 KEY STAGES FOR BASIC EDUCATION CURRICULUM (GEMNA G. POBE)
Reflection:
1. What have you realized from the lesson? How would knowing the curricular
goals affect your teaching plans in the key stage you are handling?
I realized that knowing the curricular goals from the discussions had given
me more knowledge on how can I interact effectively to the key stages that
I am handling. By understanding each key stages, I am now aware of the
capacities and capabilities of my students, in which I can help them to
realize those.

SESSION 7 STUDENT INCLUSION PROGRAM (DR. ELIAS G. BRINA)
Reflection:
1. In your Journal notebook, write a reflection on how you can be responsive to
the needs of our Filipino Muslim learners?
I am not a Muslim Filipino Citizen, so the first thing for me to do to be
responsive to the needs of our Muslim Filipino learners, is to understand
their traditions, beliefs and history. I will study harder to be with them, for
me to have an effective teaching and learning process, because how can I
give knowledge to them, if I myself didn’t have it in the first place?
Therefore, I may be of help to them, by putting myself in their shoes.

My insights for this session is that, knowing more about DLL
and DLP, I can now make a more in line lesson plan, with all
the codes and competencies. I also gained knowledge on
some areas of it, like the Remarks part, Ma’am Florangel said,
it should not be left empty, because this is the part, in which I
can evaluate of how much learners learned my lesson of the
day, and how much of them needing more enrichment
activities.

Reflection: As a teacher how can these principles help you make your learning
environment a nurturing and inspiring for learner’s participation?
The principles that had been discussed help me to design my learning
environment more conducive to learning, with this my learners are eager
to learn more and grasp more knowledge which I can be a facilitator of.
Reflect on your role as a Teacher in promoting Learner-centered Learning.
What have I done? I designed my classroom as more learner friendly.
What am I doing? I will continue to think and brainstorm deeply on
continuing this principle.
What will I do next? I will continue to propagate it based on my learners
needs.
