Scientific Method
Scientific Process1. Question- This is what you are trying to
figure out.
2. Hypothesis- This is an educated guess.
You use information that you already
know.
3. Experiment- Design an experiment to
answer your question. There are different
parts to every experiment.
4. Data- Record both qualitative and
quantitative observations during and after
the conducted experiment.
5. Conclusion- tell if your hypothesis was
correct or not and why.
6. Communicate- Discuss with others what
your results were.
Parts of an experiment:
1. Control- part of the experiment that does
not change.
2. Independent variable- variable that you
are testing. It is graphed on the X-axis
3. Dependent variable- variable that
changes because of the independent
variable. It is graphed on the Y-axis.
Types of Data:
1. QualitativeQualitative Data is data that you get using your
senses. What you see, smell, hear, fell, and
taste (Only if you are allowed to)
2. QuantitativeQuantitative data is data that involves numbers
and measurements.
Charts, graphs, tables, etc.
