Scientific Method Scientific Process1. Question- This is what you are trying to figure out. 2. Hypothesis- This is an educated guess. You use information that you already know. 3. Experiment- Design an experiment to answer your question. There are different parts to every experiment. 4. Data- Record both qualitative and quantitative observations during and after the conducted experiment. 5. Conclusion- tell if your hypothesis was correct or not and why. 6. Communicate- Discuss with others what your results were. Parts of an experiment: 1. Control- part of the experiment that does not change. 2. Independent variable- variable that you are testing. It is graphed on the X-axis 3. Dependent variable- variable that changes because of the independent variable. It is graphed on the Y-axis. Types of Data: 1. QualitativeQualitative Data is data that you get using your senses. What you see, smell, hear, fell, and taste (Only if you are allowed to) 2. QuantitativeQuantitative data is data that involves numbers and measurements. Charts, graphs, tables, etc.
