Introduction:
From the Streets of Istanbul to the Bosporus Sea, from the caves of
Cappadocia to the torture cells in Indian jails, Jannat Kay pattay is like a Roller Coaster
ride in which most of our guesses will be proved wrong and this mysterious story will
keep its secrets safe till the last sentence. This book addresses not one but several issues
of Pakistani cultural society. The story has a spiritual aspect, Haya’s journey from being a
modern glamorous girl to a hijabi, practicing Muslim. The Hurdles she faces all along her
journey to become a simple practicing Muslim and changing her Avatar.
Summary:
Jannat Kay Pattay addresses several issues of Asian Society that is bound by
cultural complexities. The development of Pakistani society has made several matters a
norm which has to be changed. We address issues like gender segregation in Weddings
and partialities of our society as a matter of Islam, but those are actually a matter of
culture. It’s time that people should learn to differentiate between culture and religion.
But as talked in every era, we still live in a society which believes taking hijab from
cousins and in weddings is extra and is considered as feigning religion. But in reality,
that is what Islam really is.
Review:
I think modernism is not something to be reliable. It’s a temporary phase that
must come to an end. And what long lasting, is our faith, our deeds and our repentance.
One other thing is to make belief as strong as we can. Nemrah Ahmad has impeccably
explained riddles of the Quran. The story of Haya depicts how one line of the Quran can
change a person’s life forever. It takes one thought to enlighten our soul and bring us
out of darkness.
