3.3 ICT Strategic Themes and Relevant ICT Capabilities

Strategic themes that define the ICT Strategic plan which outlines the key areas
where ICT in the GlobCon company will focus on planning, communication, delivery,
and security/privacy/risk.
Strategic themes:
1) Supporting the company to be more effective through better use of ICT and good
Infrastructure.
 The company requires a supreme infrastructure in order to satisfy the
components such as Computer hardware platforms, OS platforms, Software
applications, Data management, Networks, and Internet platforms. In order
to maintain this information, the company needs to spend considerable
resources.
 IaaS provides all the infrastructure to support web apps including storage,
web application servers, and networking resources.
2) Making decisions across the organization with the help of Data management.
 Data management ensures that the data for analysis is of high quality so that
the results turn out to be a success and may be helpful for the company’s
future references.
 Having a good Database system will have improved data sharing and data
security where users can share data quickly and more securely across the
organization. By providing quick solutions the data management system can
access more accurate data.
3) Better use of ICT using Mobile Device Management (MDM).
 The GlobCon company needs to be accessible at all times and have flexibility
in how the employees and customers access information and communicate.
 The company will not need to go to the extent to compromise between
network security and employee liberties because of Mobile Device
Management.
 Mobile Device Management provides improved security throughout the
enterprise. Security can be deployed to every single device within the
enterprise.
 Bring your own device (BYOD) allows the employees in the organization to
use their personal devices to access work-related systems for greater
flexibility and accessibility.
4) Improving customer relations using Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
 The business needs to have a positive relationship with the customers and
have a good understanding. Customer Relationship Management is a good
strategy that the company can use to gain more insight into customer needs
in order to develop stronger relationships.

Required IT skills and ICT capabilities:
Infrastructure


IT infrastructure roles are highly technical and require a good understanding of the
concepts of a particular area of expertise. The organization can quickly deploy web
apps on IaaS and easily scale infrastructure up and down when demand for the apps
is unpredictable.
Analytical and critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making, and process
management are some of the skills required in an IT infrastructure.
Data Management


Data management should focus on data analysis to manage and examine data to
look for patterns and to reach some kind of conclusion. Managing accounts is also
essential for the organization to keep track of passwords, usernames, and accounts.
Data management should also focus on managing database software. Big Data and
Business Intelligence tools to efficiently analyse customer data and feedback.
Mobile Device Management (MDM)


Mobile Device Management has some features and capabilities like location services
and application management. An effective Mobile Device Management platform
helps keep all devices secure while keeping the workforce flexible and productive.
MDM is capable of generating automated reports on daily updates and very easy to
search and secure documents easily.
Customer Relationship Management (CRM)


In Customer Relationship Management, the organization should have the proper skill
of communication in order to maintain a good relationship with the customers.
To be successful in this competitive environment, the company has to deliver both
quality products and dynamic experiences for the customer depending on his/her
needs.
