The writer of this text is imagines a hopeful future. Evidence of this in the text are; the positive and
educative tone in the text, desperation demonstrated in the text of the amount of change needed.
“Successful conservation must start with those of us who live alongside dangerous large animals,
whose value is deeply ingrained in our cultures” the following line shows how they imagine a new
beginning for Africa. The optimism demonstrated by the writer shows that they are hopeful for a
positive future and don’t want to just find errors in the present. They show were they want to start
and with the use of vocabulary such as ‘must’ they already have a vision in mind showing that they
are imagining a hopeful future. They also relate to the past and compare and contrast it, to not
repeat the same problems.
