LUQMAN EJAZ BBA 2020 15 Submitted to: Mam Iqra Abdullah Retention rate of students at universities Introduction: Background: University is an idea having come down to us from Old Greece. The idea of "universitas" comprised through being motivated by the climate where Plato and Aristotle made philosophical conversations with them understudies without feeling any political and strict tensions is named as university. Colleges as the most noteworthy instructive and explore foundations have been serving humankind at all-inclusive scale as focuses were each sort of material and otherworldly issues are examined and researched at the most significant level and got discoveries are moved again through educating and distributions. The principal capabilities which colleges should do have been recorded as follows: 1. Doing logical examination studies, 2. Creating answers for the issues of mankind and a nation, 3. Preparing the human power which a nation needs, 4. Showing data, abilities, feelings and instincts which they acquire to others, making distributions, 5. Setting models in each space. People having finished specific phases of studies effectively proceed with advanced education foundations with the point of profiting from these missions of colleges. In any case, the timeframe spent in advanced education is "youth", with its most straightforward definition, a certain and restricted age fragment setting up an individual inwardly, mentally and typically for social development. The study we are working at is about the low retention rate of Namal University Mianwali. Namal University Mianwali is an educational hub for the students from all over the Pakistan. Problems related to Food: Feeding is most important for the humans. Feeding is taking and using those ingredients which provide necessary nutrients to live a healthy life. Deficiently taking any of these wholesome components or not taking any influences development and improvement adversely. In each phase of life, being solid actually and intellectually and keeping up with wellbeing are conceivable through satisfactory and adjusted nourishment (O., 2012). As the students in the universities are the youth and malnutrition of any thing makes them weak against any chronic disease and it is said that students with malnutrition are more likely to be affected by the disease then the student with the proper diet plan. So, it is important for the student to develop a proper diet plan to stay healthy physically, and mentally (D., 2018). 2. Problems of habituation: Change I encompassing and keep up with these connections. In the beginning of the college time frame when understudies leave their homes and resides which they have been driving and begin an alternate life, understudies go through a cycle what we call "adjustment". During this interaction, to have the option to help them, it is significant and important to furnish them with adjustment and direction (change preparing) administrations included among the mental and direction administrations. Adjustment and direction administrations will help understudies recently beginning college to conform to this new climate and conditions in their lives, and to defeat challenges which they could confront. These administrations will add to their getting data about conceivable outcomes and administrations given by colleges and furthermore about colleges standards and rules. simultaneously, these are administrations included among the mental directing and direction furnished determined to assist understudies with getting snippets of data essential for 3 Retention rate of students at universities settling on sane and right choices during college life, and to get to be aware of college grounds, divisions, residences, close encompassing and urban communities where they are. It is absurd to expect to express that college understudies, who experience a wide range of issues, for example, the issue of acclimation to climate, sadness, worry for the future, issues connected with schooling, issues lived in two-sided relations, and issues connected with nourishment, can get proficient help which they need to take care of these issues. It is mental advising and direction focuses and advocates that assume a functioning part in the organization of mental guiding and direction administrations which are to help college understudies to tackle these issues. 3. Problems of quality education: Schooling quality is preparing of today’s youth by setting up a few important mental and humanistic circumstances and taking into account the necessities and states representing things to come. While referencing about the issue of value schooling, referencing about such matters as qualified instructors, qualified understudies, states of being of universities is conceivable. Universities are divided into 2 when talking about the function they perform. (1) those who perform research and (2) those who are the center of mass education. With the increase in the number of educators, a large number of universities are moving towards mass education and research universities are decreasing in number. Because of the increasing population the quality of the education is affected badly and it has fallen short to the standards required to research. Different researches have been done it was found that at the end of the studies teachers think that their students are not competent enough to perform research. (O, 2012) 4. Interest in the subject or degree offered: This is also interesting to know that the interest of students changes with the time and when students do not get admission in the degree offered by the university, they leave the university and try to carry in with the subject they have interest in. Like if a student is having interest in medical sciences and he/she enrolled in a university where medical sciences degree is not offered. The person will carry on but whenever, he/she will get a chance to carry on his/her future with medical sciences the student will quit the current degree and will try to go on with the medical sciences. This is same with most of the students. If university is not able to offer the right degree or subjects then the students will leave the university who are not able to find their interest in the degree offered by the university. (O, 2012) 4 Retention rate of students at universities 5. Health Issues: Health issues is one of the most prominent issues that causes students to leave universities. If we talk about the health it is categorized in 2 types, either physical and mental. Physical health refers to the strength of the body and how tough someone is while mental health is about thinking and decision making. Physical health and mental health are related to each other and because if any of them gets disturbed the other is also affected. If a student is physically not fit and he remains ill most of the time, then this is going to affect his decision-making ability because of the illness he/she will not be able to complete the tasks on time and in universities it is important to keep completing the tasks with time, otherwise it will make a burden and students will not be able to carry on with the studies. In the same if a student is mentally disturbed because of any issues then it is going to affect his physical health, and it will be hard for the student to carry on his studies, and at the end the student quit. (H., 2004) Here below I am sharing results of some previous researches conducted on university students. These researches are conducted in order to know the reasons why students leave universities.
