You are required to work independently, show all steps.
Question 1: (6 marks) We know that signal is one of the basic elements of any communication
system. Consider a periodic signal that is shown below. Find exponential Fourier series and sketch
the corresponding spectra (i.e., magnitude spectrum and phase spectrum) of this periodic signal.
Moreover, also calculate power of this signal.
Question 2: (4 marks) Consider two signals shown below
Find the component of 𝑔(𝑡) contained in 𝑥(𝑡). In other words, find the optimal value of 𝑐 in the
approximation 𝑥(𝑡) ≈ 𝑐𝑔(𝑡) so that the error signal energy is minimum. Calculate energy of the
corresponding error signal.
