Create Your Own Periodic Table
Create a “Periodic Table” which demonstrates how objects
we use every day, topics we discuss, foods we eat, and
more, contain characteristics which allow us to group them
using different patterns
Project Guidelines
1. Choose a topic that has characteristics that can be
categorized in at least two different ways.
2. Decide upon and research these particular characteristics
Organize the items vertically and horizontally to show a
pattern or relationship. (ie. Columns and rows.) Do NOT
simply recreate the Periodic Table of the Elements
3. Your periodic table must contain a minimum of 25
elements, arranged in a minimum of 5 groups and 5 periods
– more is always better.
4. There needs to be some relationship among all elements
in each group/period. You must have a title for your groups
and periods.
Your final project must include:
1. Title of periodic table at the top of your project.
2. Individual cards representing each “element” with the
following info:
Element Name, Chemical Symbol (1 or 2 letters),
A Number, Picture of the each “element”
3. A written statement is required describing a detailing:
-description of the characteristics in common in
your “families” and “periods” “groups” “trends”.
- A “Key” is required for the information given
for each “element” on the periodic table by
drawing a sample square with sample
information, and then label what characteristic
each piece of information represents.
Your project must be neat, colorful, creative, and
authentic. If I can find the same project online, that is not
authentic!

• Good characteristics of topic should to look at may be, but are not limited to: candy, dates, colors, cost, company,
size, food, genre, or any physical or chemical properties that can divide the subject into various groups and periods.
Be creative!!
