Name: Md Fahim Alam Student Id: 202062857 Folk Group List 01. My own Family: I am from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I belong from a Muslim family. In my family in our every festival I along with my father used to wear Panjabi (traditional cloth) and my mother and my two younger sisters use to wear Saree (traditional cloth) every time. It was one of the best practices what I have done with them. We had to have our dinner together every day. It was also a good practice for us because in the dinner table we use to a lot of chit-chats. Ample of decisions were being made into that discussions every night at the table. In my family it was strictly forbidden to make fancy hairstyles. Though I did not like them too because in our society no body accept these fancy hairstyle because of our tradition. 02. Friends group in my country: Friends are those whom we use to pass our nicest time. In my country I have got 6 best friends and I know them since 2011 from my school. They are still my best friends and they were always with me in my hard time. As school was the place where we used to pass our most of the time that is why our connection with each other is still the same as before. Generally we love travelling. We used to travel across the country in our vacations. We also enjoyed our religious festivals together such as Eid-ul- Fitr, EId-ul-adha and so on. Every year in our country there is a fair called “Trade Fair”. We never miss that fair since we are friends. We used to buy toys there. Street foods are very popular in my country. In the evening time when we had nothing to do, it was our most favorite thing to gossip at roadside and having a cup of tea and some street foods in that time. Sometimes in a social gathering we used to match our clothes and went for enjoying that gathering. 03. My Basketball Team in my country: It was a not only a team but also my second family. There were 15 teammates with one coach and a manager. From there I have learned something which I can never forget and that it, “If you loss it is not your fault but if you loss without effort it is your fault”. It was one of our traditions that after winning we used to have a dinner night together or went for a trip. Those were one of my best memories in my life. I have not met a single person like my coach who used to be like our friend. Whenever we loosed a game he used to scold us on the ground but after that he used to take care of us like a father. One of our rituals before entering the game was staying quite for 1 minute and remembers our creator name and asks for the best game from our creator. 04. Friends in St. John’s: As an international student, it is so hard for us managing everything by ourselves. From the very beginning that apartment where I moved here, all the roommates were in my same course. This made so easy for me for being connected with them. Now they are not only my friends but also like my brothers. Whenever any of us in bad mood or had a tough day, after coming home and sitting in the living room and gossiping made all the sorrows go away. No in weekend we go for hiking. Sometimes we make foods together. Most of the time wherever we go for outing we go together. They are also like my family. 05. Co-workers in my job place: Co-workers are those with whom we work together. No matter what is their age, gender or background, we have to work with them. I never thought that they will be a great part of my life. I work at Subway. Half of my co-workers are international students. Day by day all of us became so friendly with each other. We have to wear our uniform at first and then we start our work. A lot of jokes, working under pressure, managing rush is like new challenges every day. Sometimes we have small parties by the owner where we enjoy some foods and mini-games as well. Most important practice here is to be punctual.
