ABSTRACT
 It works on the principle that when light falls on solar cell, electron – hole pairs are created in the n-type
emitter and in the p-type base. The generated electrons (from the base) and holes (from the emitter)
then diffuse to the junction and are swept away by the electric field, thus producing electricity.
 The development of solar charger goes from the fundamental level like soldering lamination and making
the panel etc. The developed charger is planned for 6 Volts with max capacity at bright sunlight and step
down to 4 Volts using regulator. In this Report, the detailed ‘Experimental’ characteristics of mobile
charger are noted.
 Solar energy is the energy produced directly by the sun and collected elsewhere, normally the Earth.
The sun releases energy through a thermonuclear process but only small fraction that reaches the earth
that is directly used for energy creation.

INTRODUCTION
 The most commonly known fact about solar energy is that it represents a clean, green source of energy. Solar power is a great way
to reduce your carbon footprint.
 There’s nothing about solar power that pollutes mother nature. Solar power doesn’t release any greenhouse gasses, and except for
needing a source of clean water to function, it uses absolutely no other resources. Hence, it’s safe and environmentally-friendly. Yet,
people are still in doubt why solar energy is good.
 A solar cell which forms a primary part of the solar mobile charger works on the principle of photovoltaic
effect.
 It is made up of energy called “Photons”. When a photon is absorbed, the energy of the photon is tranferred to the electron.
 Thus, producing the electricity.
OBJECTIVES
 To study the operations of solar mobile charger
 To know the advantages and limitations of its use.
 To know the future scope of solar mobile charger.
 Maximizing the use of it in a day to day life.
WHAT IS SOLAR MOBILE CHARGER?
 As the name summarizes, it is a charger that functions using Solar power. These chargers make
use of Solar Panels or Photo-Voltaic cells that converts Solar energy to electricity.
 It is an innovative invention that can be used for the replacement of electric chargers.
 It is portable, uses sustainable energy resources, environment-friendly and economical.
 Solar Batteries or mobile chargers have an USB Power Socket with up to 2.1 A of output
current. You can plug in your device’s USB cable to start charging your phone using solar energy
WHAT IS THE SIZE OF THE SOLAR PANEL REQUIRED TO CHARGE OUT CELL
PHONES AND POWER BANKS?
 Size of the solar panel is directly proportional to the type of device we plug in the charge.
 We should pick the solar panel which will be compatible with our devices
HOW LONG IT TAKES TO CHARGE A CELL PHONE OR POWER BANK
WITH SOLAR MOBILE CHARGER
 There are basically two factors that determine the charging time

Intensity of sunlight

Capacity of Solar Cell Phone Charger
 When we have bright sunlight and decent capacity charger, with output of 5-watt, it would take around 4-5 hours to
fully charge your cell phone and 5-6 hours to fully charge your power bank.
HOW DOES THE SOLAR MOBILE CHARGER WORKS?
 The components required to build Solar Mobile Charger are:

Solar Panel

Voltage Regulator

PIC Multi controller

Battery

Universal Charging Port.

CIRCUIT DIAGRAM FOR SOLAR MOBILE CHARGER
SOLAR PANEL
 Solar Panel is the parallel arrangement of Photovoltaic cells.
 These Phototvoltaic Cells absobs the solar radiation.
 When the light rays falls on the panel, the free electrons starts moving and initiates the current production process.
BATTERY AND VOLTAGE REGULATOR
 Battery stores the energy received from solar panels
 The voltage from the solar panel not stable and varies according to the intensity of the sun rays and the degree of
incidence over the solar mobile charger panel.
 Voltage regulator helps in regulating the current and voltage coming from the solar panels going to the battery.
 Voltage regulator is used between Solar Panel Output and Battery Input.
 Voltage Regulator makes sure that the voltage never exceeds the safe value.
UNIVERSAL CHARGING PORT
 Universal Charging Port is connected to the voltage regulation circuit to plug-in devices like Cell Phones and Power
Banks to be charged.
 USB cable is used to transfer the charge from Solar Mobile Charger to Cell Phone.
ADVANTAGES OF SOLAR MOBILE CHARGER
 Solar Energy is renewable energy
 The source of energy is free and environment friendly.
 Maintenance is economical
 They are cheaper compared to regular electrical chargers.
 Relatively small in size can be used anywhere.
 It can be used in various applications and has a lot of features.
LIMITATIONS OF SOLAR MOBILE CHARGER
 Output of Solar Mobile Charger is quite low.
 It need continuous and high intensity to generate energy.
 Small amount of pollution during manufacture of the Solar Mobile Chrager.
 Weather Dependecy.
