If there were no rules of the game, what do you think might have happened? Why? 3. Were the roles of the officiating officials necessary in the smooth conduct of the games? Let the students give their insight. Ask them: 1. Inside the court, how should the officiating official behave and perform his duties excellently? (5 mins) Let the students think of words/terms to associate to the word ETHICS. Let them write on the board their answers. (5 mins) What is Ethics? Why is it important for the officiating officials? (5 mins) Synchronized hand-signals: 1. The teacher will raise flashcards with hand signals of the three sports. Students shall demonstrate/ exhibit quickly in 2 minutes time. 2. After the 2 minutes synchronization of hand signals, count your number of correct demonstrations. (record as score) What qualities should an officiating official possess? Why do you think so? (5 mins) C. Presenting examples/ instances of the new lesson (EXPLORE) Group activity: “The Dancing Referee” 1. Using the same groupings from the previous activity, let the students review the different hand signals. 2. Designate a particular sport to perform by group. 3. Let them create a dance choreography incorporating the hand signals of the sports assigned to them. Use the music “Believer” Stephen Curry. 4. Give them 30 minutes to practice 5. Be guided with the following criteria: Creativity Effort Accuracy and Ability to Demonstrate the signals. Group the class into 3. 2. Post the 3 different sports hand signals on the walls of the classroom. 3. Let student explore on how to execute the hand signals guided with the pictures on each sport. 4. Assign a leader for each group to facilitate the activity. 5. Give them 5 minutes to stay and familiarize each hand signals in every station. 6. Finish the 3 stations in 15 mins. (10 mins) DEMONSTRATION: The teacher will demonstrate correct hand signals of referees in the following: 1. Basketball 2. Volleyball 3. Let each group draw on a manila paper the picture of their ideal officiating official. Give them 5 mins to work with the group.
