GLYDEL MAE BLANCO Game Facilitator 佩加菲 PEGAFI Intramurals 2022 Contact Sports 501 is the standard version of the game in competition and the object is to “check out” by getting your score down to 50 or less before ending the game by reaching zero by either throwing a double or a bullseye with your final dart. Guidelines for Darts (Boys/Girls) 1. Each team must have a representative for any dart categories. (Boys/Girls) 2. The participants must strictly follow the rules in 501 Standard Version. 3. The participants must observe and follow the health and safety protocols in the game. 4. The winner in each category will be identified based on its score. Scoring A player scores points by throwing the darts at the board. Each player throws three darts on their turn with the maximum score being 180, achieved by hitting three treble 20s. The bull is worth 50 points, the outer bull 25 points and the various numbers score their own value, unless they are doubled (the outer rim) or trebled. Winning the Game To win a player must reach zero by hitting a double or a bull, having first got their score down from the 501 starting point. If they do that they win the leg and the first to three legs wins the set. Most matches are normally played “best of” a defined (odd) number of sets, with the sport’s biggest prize, the PDC World Championship, involving a final that is best of 13 (therefore the winner is the first to seven sets). Rules of Darts The rules of darts are very simple and have basically been discussed in previous sections. Some key points to note are as follows: • Which player takes the first turn in a game is decided by throwing a single dart each with the nearest to the bull taking the first throw. 佩加菲 PEGAFI Intramurals 2022 Contact Sports • A throw consists of throwing three darts unless the game is won in fewer. • Only darts in the board at the end of the throw are counted and ones that bounce or fall out cannot be thrown again. • If a player scores more than their remaining points total their throw ends and is scored zero (for example if they have 16 remaining and accidentally hit a 20 with their first dart). • The centre of the bull should be exactly 5ft 8in (1.73 metres) high. • Darts are thrown from a clearly marked toe-line, often called the oche, at least 7ft 9 ¼ in from the board, measured horizontally. GHUEN B. SEGARRA NOVE ANNE ALESTRE Game Facilitators 佩加菲 PEGAFI Intramurals 2022 Board Games Guidelines for Chess Tournament (Girls/Boys) Basic rules Chess is a two-player game, where one player is assigned white pieces and the other black. Each player has 16 pieces to start the game: one king, one queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knights and eight pawns. Aim of the game The object of the game is to capture the other player's king. This capture is never actually completed, but once a king is under attack and unable to avoid capture, it is said to be checkmated and the game is over. Checkmate The primary objective in chess is to checkmate your opponent's King. When a King cannot avoid capture then it is checkmated and the game is immediately over. Stalemate The game is drawn when the player to move has no legal move and his king is not in check. The game is said to end in 'stalemate'. This immediately ends the game. Time control A regular chess clock is used to limit the length of a game. These clocks count the time that each player separately takes for making his own moves. The rules are very simple, if you run out of time, you lose the game, and thus must budget your time. End of the game Winning The game is won by the player • who has checkmated his opponent's king. • whose opponent declares he resigns. Draw The game is drawn when the king of the player who has the move is not in check, and this player cannot make any legal move. The player's king is then said to be "stalemated". This immediately ends the game. The game is drawn upon agreement between the two players. 佩加菲 PEGAFI Intramurals 2022 Board Games The game is drawn when one of the following endings arises: • king against king; • king against king with only bishop or knight; • king and bishop against king and bishop, with both bishops on diagonals of the same colour. The player to move can claim a draw if • the same position with the same player to move is repeated three times in the game • there are been 50 consecutive moves of white and of black without o any piece taken o any pawn move Losing The game is lost by a player who has not completed the prescribed number of moves in the allotted time, unless his opponent has only the king remaining, in which case the game is drawn. RULES AND REGULATIONS A. STANDARD CHESS 1. Time control shall be One (1) hour plus thirty (30) seconds increment per move for each player to finish the game using the digital clock. Major Offenses: Wrong movement of piece, exposing the king to an attack; capturing opponent’s king and non-replacement of piece after pawn promotion. Minor Offenses: such as using two hands in making a move; displacement of piece/s on the chess board; use of force in pressing the chess clock and nonrecording of moves, etc. B. This does not apply in the final rounds of the game where there are no more letters possible to be refilled. A scrabble “BINGO” results in an additional 50 points to the player’s total score. 5.4 The special tiles (i.e. Double letter, Triple letter, Double word, and Triple Word) can only be used once. 6.
