Reflective letter on Placement experience in long term care
Practical Experience
I had to deal with real-world situations during my placement. In the classroom, I became
acquainted with imaginary clients and their issues. which were laid out for us, making it easier to
comprehend what steps to take. Residents at long-term care institutions are actual people with a
range of personalities and problems. In contrast to real life, where a number of circumstances
may change the course of your actions, textbooks usually employ very binary terminology.
During the placement, I was able to put what I had learned in the classroom into perspective and
observe situations that I might not have noticed in the textbook.
Analytical techniques
Second, while I was on placement, I got the chance to pick up new skills. While I'm on
placement, I have the chance to learn from and work with professional personal support workers
because they've dealt with a variety of people and circumstances. In general, they are
knowledgeable about the best procedures and strategies. This was helpful to me since it gave me
the chance to gain knowledge that will help me develop as a personal support worker in my job.
Teamwork
Finally, I was able to develop and enhance my teamwork abilities while I was on placement. I
gained a lot of knowledge from working not just with other Personal Support Workers but also
with nurses and doctors who are part of the healthcare team.
