Reviewing previous lesson/presenting the new lesson Call on students to give the two types of recycling and give some examples of each type. “More Pics, One Thought” B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson - Let the students analyze the presented pictures and form a concept/thought about them. (Answer: There is cash in trash.) - Call on volunteer students to give their insights about the thought that was formed. Is it a good or bad effect of recycling? “Reading out Loud” C. Presenting examples/ instances of Call on students to read the statements presenting the advantages of recycling: the new lesson - One of the biggest reasons why recycling has been promoted is that it does reduce the strain on our environment. Recycling allows junk items like scrap cars, old bottles, junk mail and used rubber tyres to be used over and over again so that new resources do not have to be exploited. Old newspapers, appliances, plastic, rubber, steel, copper and even beer cans can be sold for money. “Watch and Understand” D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills # 1 - Let the students watch a video clip depicting the advantages of recycling (https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=1cKZJAVHwCQ) - Ask the following questions: What is the video all about? What are the advantages of recycling implied in the video? “Thinking out Loud” E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills # 2 - Group the students into four, let them have a brainstorming about the advantages of recycling based on their own perceptions. Let them consolidate their ideas and present their output in class. - Analyze their outputs and have a further discussion through the use of powerpoint presentation. “Drawing for Better Understanding” F. Developing mastery G. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living Let the students make a poster about the proper techniques of storing poultry.
