Active students are those who actively engaged in both academic and non-academic activities such as sports, hobbies and etc. The common traits such as doing well in communication, high level of sensitivity to their surroundings and more empathy in social community are the keys for them to become good leaders. Firstly, an active students can communicate well with their peers and teachers. The reason for this is because communication is a crucial process for students to build necessary connections to another person despites any backgrounds they have. Joining a debate competition or participate in fundraising projects are the best example for students to make a fresh start. By joining these activities, we can develop our social interaction skills and having effective communication with other people. In addition, have good skills in communication enhance the level of sensitivity to the surroundings. This is to hone problem-solving skills into the real-life situation and prevent miscommunication among groupmates. In fact, according to research from an article in Neuroscience and Psychology, at a young age, children that exposed to bad surroundings keen to felt demotivated and restless more than those who already in good surroundings. This shown that good leaders must have good awareness to their surroundings. Furthermore, good leaders also show more empathy towards other people in their community. Having some sense of empathy helps them to understand different perspectives and needs of others. For instance, in certain group assignments, students build trusts among their friends to expose themselves about different opinions and viewpoints that eventually create mutual relationship between colleagues while in work. In conclusion, there are many ways for students to become good leaders. As the African proverbs once said, “A good leader was once a good follower”. Thus, good communication skills, awareness to surroundings and empathy are vital in life.
