Now You See Me (2013)
Hi and welcome to Moviefy. Today I will show you a film about a group of magicians who
carry a successful bank heist during their shows and gave the money to the audience. A
2013 movie titled Now You See Me—warning, spoilers ahead, so look out and get
movified.
The movie started with a guy, Daniel Atlas, exhibiting magic in the street of Chicago. He
was a very popular illusionist. He left his audience open-mouthed as he predicts the
chosen card of a lady and showed it the façade. Another guy, Merritt McKinney, was once
a popular mentalist and hypnotist, He presented his magic in one of the restaurants by
hypnotizing a woman. While the woman is hypnotized, the magician blackmails the
husband of the woman that he will reveal that the man is cheating. The man lends money
to the magician just to keep his affair secret. In the city of New York, Jack Wilder, is a
regular sleight of hand illusionist, street magician, and pickpocket. This guy performs
magic in crowded places and his magic includes stealing an audience's wallet and watch
with his fast and unnoticed move. Another magician, Henley Reeves performs a trick that
makes the audience believe that she was eaten by a piranha but in a blink of an eye, she
shows herself in the middle of the crowd. She was an escape artist and a stage
performer. (2:00-9:50)
After their shows, these four magicians saw an unfamiliar card, a place and time were
written on the card. They arrived at the meeting place and saw each other. They show
their cards as an implication that they were invited. They search through the house, and
they saw a mark on the floor. Meanwhile, the four of them were amazed at a blueprint
floating and appearing in front of them. (10:00-14:30)
One year later, the four of them are presenting magic all together in the same place with
a hundred people who wished to witness their greatness and magic. And they were called
the Four Horsemen. (14:45-16:00)
One of the audiences was caught recording and he was stopped by security because it
was not allowed, but that did not stop him and he still secretly record the magic happening
on the stage. The four magicians on the stage picked a random audience to choose a
bank that they are planning to rob as their final trick. The magicians placed a headgear
on the man and Henley, the lady magician magically set a machine in the stadium. The
magicians gave a card to the man and he was told to put a signature on the card without
showing it to them. The man set foot on the machine and the magicians counted from
one to three. When they uttered the number three, the machine was pressed together
and all of the people inside the stadium lost sight of the man. The magicians acted
surprised but it was part of their trick. At that same moment, the man from the machine
landed in one of the banks in Paris, the same bank that the magicians plan to rob. Back
in the stadium, a screen was turned on showing the man inside the bank. Daniel and
Merritt communicate with the man using the headgear. The man inside the bank was
instructed to put the card and the ticket for the show in the middle of the money in front
of him. The man was also instructed to press a button that activates an air duct that
connects to Las Vegas and Paris. In a minute, the money was sucked and to everyone’s
surprise, the money from the bank was showered in the stadium which left the audience
in awe. And when the employees of the bank opened the vault, they were taken aback
when they saw it empty but the card and ticket were still placed where it was left. The
magicians successfully and neatly did their final trick for that night. (16:00-23:30)
The following day, the Four Horsemen was arrested for what they did and they were
escorted by the FBI. But the Horsemen shows no worry about what’s happening. (23:0024:20)
The detectives and FBI interrogated the man who set foot in the bank. Agent Rhodes, the
agent who’s been assigned to the case was distressed by how the man answered. The
man insists that he teleports from Las Vegas to Paris in three seconds through the
machine. Agent Rhodes was fueled with fury because the man was hypnotized and he
plays the violin when he heard the word “bullshit”. (25:30-26:27)
Agent Rhodes and a detective from Interpol, Alma, started to question each of the
Horsemen but they cannot gather any information that made sense because each of them
converses humorously and sarcastically which causes to lessen the patience of agent
Rhodes. And after a while, the Horsemen was freed. (27:30-32:00)
Later that day, one of the colleagues of agent Rhodes called one of the audiences, who
recorded the magic on the night when the Horsemen performed. Agent Rhodes and the
detective took a seat in the office and the man offered a glass of wine and then he turned
the glass of water into wine which amazes the agent. They questioned Mr. Bradley, the
man who recorded the Horsemen’s magic, a great magician, and a man who reveals any
famous magician’s magic. (32:22-34:30)
Agent Rhodes, detective Alma, Mr. Bradley together with his assistant came to the
stadium to find out how the Horsemen do their trick. Mr. Bradley presents it to agent
Rhodes by letting him set foot in the machine, and in a second, he fell into a place that
they thought was the bank in Paris as what the Horsemen shows when they did their
magic. Mr. Bradley told them that the man was not randomly picked, he was selected and
the horsemen hypnotized him. The bank was not robbed but the Horsemen stole the
money when it was transported. Mr. Bradley continued explaining to agent Rhodes how
the Horsemen's final magic that night was done. (34:30-39:00)
Two days later, the Horsemen and Mr. Tressler, were on a plane. Mr. Tressler was
interviewed in one of the famous TV shows because the ticket for the Horsemen in their
next show was sold in just 35 seconds. Henley and Merritt, one of the magicians' talks,
and the man revealed that he knew that Henley has a secret affection for Daniel. (39:0040:00)
Agent Rhodes and detective Alma flew to see the next show of the Four Horsemen. The
detective found a place for them to stay and they planned and studied the histories of
other great magicians, specifically Lionel Shrike who established his name in the magic
world. Agent Rhodes believes that there is a fifth Horsemen, not just four. (44:00-47:00)
Mr. Bradley filmed a show about the Horsemen. He compared the Horsemen to the
ancient Egyptians who steal food from the Pharaoh but they use illusions in doing it, and
they called it “the eye”. Mr. Bradley, and the team filmed for his show, and Mr. Tressler
appeared, offering a 3.5 million dollars to fly away but Mr. Bradley told him that Mr.
Tressler helps them to ride them up and he aims to ride them down and Mr. Tressler burn
the cheque that he offered to Mr. Bradley and he told him that he has a big amount of
money and he has a lot of lawyers and that he can make everything that Mr. Bradley
possessed drains away. But Mr. Bradley was not threatened. (47:00:50:00)
On the night of their show, Henley and Merritt were talking alone together and Daniel was
secretly listening to their conversation but Mr. Bradley shows up in their room to
sarcastically say good luck in their show. One of the Horsemen asked his permission to
make a quick read on him and he agreed. He told Mr. Bradley that he is a little boy who
wishes to be a great magician one day but he is not quite good enough so he ends up at
the bottom of the entertainment food chain feeding off of those who have the talent that
he never did. Mr. Bradley was left silent. Daniel interfered by presenting magic to him, he
let Mr. Bradley choose a card, but it was not the same card that Mr. Bradley chose instead
a word “suck it” was written on it. (50:00-52:00)
Agent Rhodes and detective Alma settled themselves and so does Mr. Bradley and his
assistant before the show started. The show started by introducing each of the members
of the Horsemen. Daniel sarcastically says that they dedicate their performance to Agent
Rhodes and detective Alma. (50:00-54:50)
They started their shows. Daniel and Henley placed a rabbit in the box and after a second
the rabbit disappeared but they revealed the trick to make it more interesting and
performed another one. Merritt called 12 volunteers from the crowd and hypnotizes each
one of them. He commands them all to be a football when they hear the word “Freeze”.
Daniel made a bubble and Henley jumped into it and she floats into the space in the
stadium. Jack performs magic with his cards. (55:00-54:40)
Merritt asked the audience to write down their bank account balance and to shout their
name together. He mentioned random names that he heard and asked them to stand,
and he guess the amount in their bank account but before he continues, he requested
Mr. Tressler to go into the stage for their final performance that night. The Horsemen
asked the crowd to get a flashlight in their seats and direct the light to the paper and they
did the same to Mr. Tresseler’s paper. While moving the light to the paper the number
changes and the amount in their bank account did the same too. However, the changes
in the audience’s money are opposite to Mr. Tresseler's. The money of the people in the
stadium increases and it notifies on their cellphone but Mr. Tresseler’s money decreases.
Mr. Tresseler got confused but when everything sinks in, he got furious. He tries to grab
Merritt but his feet were chained.
Agent Rhodes runs toward the Horsemen because his colleague confirms to him that
what is happening is true, he shouted “freeze” before the Horsemen leave but suddenly
twelve people from the crowd, who had been hypnotized by Merritt run towards him, they
all jump and landed on agent Rhodes. The Horsemen quickly left but detective Alma
chase them. On the other hand, Agent Rhodes called for backup to go inside as he chases
the Horsemen. He jumps into cars, climb into roofs, and runs into a crowded place. He
runs all over the place and when his colleagues finds where he is standing, he realized
that he was tracking himself because Jack put the tracker in his pocket without him
noticing. (55:00-1:07:00)
Agent Rhodes was frustrated with what happened. Detective Alma came to get him
because she is worried but they end up arguing. Agent Rhodes helped her when she fell
her things and he saw an eye written in her notes, Agent Rhodes did not completely trust
her because she appeared out of nowhere. (1:07:00-1:08:33)
Mr. Bradley was walking in the hallway when two men approached him, they told him that
Mr. Tressler invited him for a drink. Mr. Tressler asks Mr. Bradley about the Horsemen
and he told him that their magic was designed a long time ago and what’s going to follow
is going to amaze everyone. Mr. Tressler offers another amount to Mr. Bradley only if he
will destroy the Horsemen as revenge for what they did to him. But Mr. Bradley named a
price of five million. (1:09:00-1:10:00)
Agent Rhodes arrived in their room and saw the detective fall asleep. He covered her with
a blanket, grabs the book that she slept in her arm and he tries to scroll through the pages.
He was surprised by the voice and when he looks up, he saw her. He apologizes for the
argument that happened to say that he was drunk. The detective accepts his apology and
agent Rhodes asks her about the book she is reading. She told him that the eye is the
keeper of real magic and the protector of those who practices it. (1:10:00-1:13:00)
Agent Rhodes fished out his phone in his pocket and realized that someone is watching
him and it was confirmed by his colleagues when they checked it, someone can read and
hear his calls and messages. So, he uses it to trick the Horsemen. Agents and detectives
appeared where the Horsemen were but detective Alma was prohibited to come with
them. They entered the building but the three of the Horsemen has already gone but Mr.
Bradley had his eyes on them. Jack was the only one left in the room, he fought agent
Rhodes and his colleague and when he was about to escape agent Rhodes followed him.
Detective Alma escaped and followed agent Rhodes. Mr. Bradley was watching and
keeping an eye on every Horsemen. (1:21:00)
Everyone is chasing Jack but they did not successfully capture him because his car
crashes. (1:25:00-1:26:00)
Mr. Bradley called agent Rhodes to tell him not to trust the detective, Alma. And agent
Rhodes has trouble trusting her now. She disrespects her in front of other agents and
another agent has been assigned to hold the case. (1:26:00-1:28:00)
The three remaining Horsemen filmed themselves and made a speech to dedicate it to
Jack. (1:28:00-1:29:00)
The detectives and agents have the feeling for the next magic of the Horsemen. So, the
agents followed where the money is going because they believe that it is the next magic
trick that the Horsemen will be making but they were too late because the Horsemen has
the money already. (1:28:00-1:34:00)
The Horsemen announces that they will have a show and everyone gathered to witness
it. The Horsemen showed themselves through the screen. Agent Rhodes followed
detective Alma and they looked for the Horsemen. When they saw them and before they
can take a step closer to them, they disappeared into the thin air, and the money was
showered to the crowd. (1:34:00-1:38:40)
However, it does not end there, all the money showered to the crowd was all fake and
when Mr. Bradley opened his car, all the money appeared and so does the police.
(1:39:00-1:41:00)
Every screen in the city is filled with the faces of the Four Horsemen. (1:42:00)
Mr. Bradley was locked into a rotten jail. He told agent Rhodes all the secrets behind the
magic of the Horsemen. Jack was not dead at all and it was all part of the game. They
hid the safe with a mirror and they used a dead body to make everyone believe that it
was Jack, and they found the Lionel Shrike tree. Lionel Shrike is famous for what he hid
on a card inside the tree and after 18 years he performed the magic. The Horsemen
combined their cards and unlocked an amusement world. (1:45:00-1:46:00)
Agents Rhodes told Mr. Bradley that deep down inside, he wanted nothing more but to
be part of the “eye” but he was never invited so he tried to destroy them. But that is what
agent Rhodes thought because the “eye” isn’t real and it was done by someone prepared
to sacrifice everything.
The Horsemen were in the amusement park and they were welcomed by none other than
Dylan Rhodes, the agent. (1:51:00)
Rhodes met Alma again and that’s when the truth was uncovered. Shrike is Rhodes's
father and he gave his son a watch and instructs him to keep track of the seconds until
he returns. When he performed magic with a safe made of cheap metal, it warps as it hits
the bottom of the river, killing him. His remains were never discovered.
