Course Description
• The course is based on the premise that knowledge
about information systems (IS) is essential for creating
successful, competitive firms, for adding business
value, and for providing useful products and services to
customers.
• The main purpose is to provide students with an indepth understanding of the theoretical as well as
practical aspects of IS, particularly, how it fits into an
overall corporate strategy.

Learning Objectives
• Identify and analyze the impact of information systems (IS)
on competitive advantage;
• Evaluate the effectiveness of different types of IS;
• Evaluate the strategic options and the ways in which the
business and IS strategies can be aligned and integrated;
• Demonstrate how to apply appropriate technological
systems and infrastructures to support a business IS
solution;
• Understand how can IS support managerial decision
making;
• Evaluate the organizational, managerial, and technical
factors involved in the successful implementation of ebusiness.
