Effects:
Induces labor, strengthens uterine contractions,
controls bleeding after birth.
OXYTOCIN
Adverse effects:
Laboring person: heart rate alterations, nausea,
vomiting, headache, weakness.
Newborn: heart rate alterations, jaundice, seizure,
eye problems, problems with breathing, CNS
damage, low APGAR score for first 5 minutes,
fetal death.
Effects:
Short-term pain relief.
Adverse effects:
Headache, dizziness, drowsiness, diarrhea,
constipation, gas, sores in the mouth,
sweating.
KETOROLAC
Effects:
CYTOTEC
Reduces stomach acid, helps to protect the
stomach from possible damage from
nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
(NSAID).
Adverse effects:
Diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, upset
stomach, gas, vaginal bleeding or spotting,
heavy menstrual flow, menstrual cramps.
