Walk Around 737 New Generation 1 Welcome to the Exterior Walk-Around Inspection of the 737 New Generation Airplane. The inspection begins in the cockpit. Let’s go! 2 Subtitle Check external AC power connected. Position System A/B electric hydraulic pump switches ON. System pressures should read 2800 psi minimum. 3 Set the Parking Brake. Check the red warning light illuminated. 4 Position Landing and Turnoff Light Switches ON and check for illumination; return switches to OFF. 5 Exterior Lights: Check. 6 Outside the airplane, the inspection continues. We begin and end here at the left forward entry door. 7 Total Air Temperature ProbeCheck 8 Check for damage and that the dust cover has been removed. 9 Angle of attack vane-Check 10 Check for damage. 11 Left Pitot Probe 12 Check probe for damage, security of attachment, and dust cover removed. 13 Radome and Conductor Strip. Check conductor strips for security of attachment. 14 Lower Nose Compartment - Closed, latched and handle flush. 15 Taxi LightCheck for damage. 16 Nose Gear Doors-Check for security of attachment. 17 Nose Gear Tires and WheelsCheck for condition, proper inflation and tread wear. 18 Shock Strut- Check not fully compressed. 19 Ground Locking Pin-Check removed. 20 Nose Gear Steering Lockout Pin- Check pin installed if tow/pushback is to be accomplished. 21 Nose Wheel Well-Check hydraulic components for visible leaks and verify nosewheel snubbers are installed. 22 External Power ReceptacleCheck for security and nosewheel well light switchNORMAL 23 Right Pitot Probes/Angle of attack vane- Check both pitot probes and sensor for damage, security and dust covers removed. 24 F/O Sliding Window HandleCheck flush with surface. 25 E&E Compartment Access DoorCheck closed and handle flush. 26 E & E Flow Control Valve Outlet- Check outlet clear of all obstructions and air being exhausted from outlet opening. 27 Oxygen Pressure Relief Green Disc-Check in place. 28 Static Ports 29 Check that no obstructions are covering alternate static ports. 30 Forward Cargo Compartment Check condition of compartment, tie-downs and lights. 31 Forward Cargo Door- Check door closed, locked and handle flush. 32 Ram Air Deflector and Air Inlet Door-Check that deflector door is extended and air inlet is open. 33 Air Conditioning Access DoorsCheck all latches secure and doors closed. 34 Lower AntiCollision Light- Check lens for damage, light illuminated and flashing. 35 Right inboard landing lightCheck lens for cleanliness and damage. 36 Right outboard landing/turnoff lights- Check lenses clean and undamaged. Right leadingedge flaps-Check for damage. 37 Right engine inboard cowl and latchesCheck condition and latches secure. 38 Engine Cowl Inlet-Check general condition and cleanliness of inlet; fan blades for damage. 39 Defueling Panel Access Door- 40 Check door closed and latched. 41 Fuel Panel Access Door 42 Check door closed and latched. 43 Leading Edge Slats-Check general condition,unobstructed and free of ice, snow or frost. 44 Fuel Measuring Sticks-Check alignment marks on lower wing surface and fuel measuring sticks agree. (Two fuel measuring sticks are located inboard of engine). 45 Ram Air Vent ScoopCheck fuel surge tank vent opening clear. 46 Wingtip Position Lights/Strobes Check illuminated and undamaged. 47 Upper Fuselage AntiCollision Light- Check illuminated and flashing. 48 Static DischargersCheck undamaged. 49 Right Aileron and TabCheck undamaged. 50 Outboard Flap-Check undamaged. 51 Landing Gear Doors and Seal- Check that strut doors are fastened to strut and lower strut door seal is secure. 52 Right Main Strut, Tires and Wheels- Check strut for leaks. Check cable, wheels and tires for general condition. Check outboard hub cap secured. 53 Brake Wear IndicatorsWith parking brake set, check wear indicator pins for length remaining. If pin is even with brake housing, check with maintenance. 54 Strut Extension- Check not fully compressed. 55 Ground Locking Pin- Remove gear down lock safety pin. 56 Wheel Well Area- Check for general condition, foreign objects and hydraulic leaks. 57 System A and B Hydraulic Reservoir Quantities- 58 Check indicators on reservoir are RF or above. 59 Blown Tire Impact FittingCheck secure and undamaged. 60 Brake Accumulator Pressure IndicatorCheck 1000psi minimum. 61 APU Fire Control PanelCheck fire handle up. 62 Right Inboard Flap-Check flap surface undamaged. 63 Lower VHF AntennaCheck secure and undamaged. 64 Aft Cargo Door- Open cargo door, check condition of compartment, tie-downs and lights. Close and lock door, handle flush. 65 Negative Pressure Relief Door- Check door flush with surface. 66 Potable Water Servicing Panel- Check door closed, latched and flush with surface. 67 Outflow ValveCheck fully open. 68 Pressure Safety Relief Ports (2)- Check openings free of debris or obstruction. 69 APU Inlet Door- Check door opening free of obstruction. 70 APU Access Door- Check closed and latched. 71 Horizontal StabilizerCheck undamaged. 72 Vertical Stabilizer- Check undamaged and elevator pitot probes unobstructed. 73 Elevator and Tabs- Check elevator balance tab faired with elevator and undamaged. Check tail cone strobe light illuminates. 74 Rudder- Check rudder faired with vertical stabilizer and undamaged 75 Tail Skid (737-800)- Check for damage. Shoe should be replaced if worn down to wear dimples. Cartridge assembly should be replaced if warning decal is all red. 76 Aft Gray Water Drain MastCheck undamaged. Do not touch! Could be very hot! 77 Vacuum Waste System Service DoorCheck closed, latched and flush with surface. 78 Fuel Shroud and Hydraulic Drain MastCheck for leakage. If fuel is dripping from mast, check with maintenance. 79 Left Inboard Flap- Check surface undamaged. 80 Left Main Strut, Tires and Wheels- Check strut for leaks. Check wheels and tires for general condition. Check outboard hub cap secure. 81 Landing Gear Doors and Seals: Check strut doors fastened to strut and lower strut seal secure. 82 Brake Wear IndicatorsCheck wear indicator pins for length remaining. If pin is even with brake housing, check with maintenance. 83 Strut Extension- Check not fully compressed. 84 Ground Locking Pin- Remove gear down lock safety pin. 85 Wheel Well Area- Check area for general condition and hydraulic leaks. 86 Engine Fire ExtinguishersCheck pressure gage on each extinguisher for adequate pressure per bottle data plate. 87 Blown Tire Impact FittingCheck secure and undamaged. 88 Wheel Well Light SwitchCheck OFF. 89 Ram Air Exhaust LouversCheck louvers fully open, both sides. 90 Left Outboard Flap- Check flaps not damaged. 91 Left Aileron and TabCheck undamaged. 92 Ram Air Vent Scoop- Check fuel surge tank vent opening clear. 93 Wingtip Position Lights/ StrobesCheck illuminated and undamaged. 94 Leading Edge Slats- Check general condition and undamaged. 95 Fuel Measuring SticksCheck alignment marks’ on lower wing surface and fuel measuring sticks agree.
