Module 2 Lesson 1 Assignment
1. Five jobs/careers that would work well, offering flexible work arrangements, would be job
sharing for teachers, Starbucks Barista, family doctors, photographers, and interior designers.
And five jobs/careers that would not offer flexible work arrangements would be surgical doctors,
personal chefs, nurses, security analysts, and construction workers.
2. What differentiates Canada’s Top Employers in workplace innovations is that the employers
truly care about their employee's personal growth by providing a learning experience that allows
them to develop their career skills and opportunities. This shows that everyone is valued and that
allows employees to be more focused and effective when it comes to their work. General
offerings between a company that makes it a great workplace would be a positive environment,
employee input, open discussions, and flexibility.
3. To maintain company culture and employee engagement, I would introduce team bonding.
This could be a once or twice a month activity that all staff members have to participate in. By
doing this, staff feel more involved. Another plan would be to have weekly check-ins about
physical and mental health. This allows all staff to have support/ someone to talk to if needed. I
believe in having a successful work environment, it is very important to make sure that everyone
feels safe and valued.
4. I think I would like to work longer days, so I could have one day off a week. Meaning 10
hours per day, four days a week. Instead of five days a week, where I would work 8 hours a day.
I could use that one day off to reset and make sure my physical and mental health are in check.
