Topic: Toxic/harmful chemicals we use in our daily products. Introduction There are many toxic and harmful chemicals; we are using in our daily life products in the form of preservatives, additives, and many more. Some toxic chemicals are as follow: Organophosphate (pesticide) The most widely used pesticides around the world, which are highly toxic. Sources: it is used in every type of pesticides i.e. insecticides, herbicides, pesticides etc. Health impacts: behavioral and cognitive problems in children’s nervous system. Limits: The exposure level range from 0.002 to 2mg/m3. Control: Do not let pesticides contaminate food or food preparation surfaces. Ventilate thoroughly after indoor applications. Avoid using fogging products. Wash food products before use. Phthalates Phthalates are a group of chemicals used to make plastics more durable. They are often called plasticizers. Some phthalates are used to help dissolve other materials. Phthalates are in hundreds of products, such as vinyl flooring, lubricating oils, and personal-care products (soaps, shampoos, hair sprays).
