Introduction
Avery Berkel is a company that was started in 1993. After buying the Berkel
Company, the British conglomerate General Electric Company combined it with their
GEC Avery business.
GEC kept this group going as a subsidiary until March 2000. After that, Weigh-Tronix
bought it. Here, the Avery Berkel was still the commercial name for the Avery
Weigh-Tronix brand.
In September 2007, Avery Weigh-Tronix sold the whole Avery Berkel to the company
Illinois Tool Works. Avery Weigh-Tronix was bought by this Illinois Tool Works a year
later, but the two companies stayed separate.
