A5 PC The political cartoon Drew Sheneman falls under the President topic. This cartoon depicts Donald Trump standing behind three minions making his signature expression. In the cartoon, Donald Trump is saying “It’s not like I told them what to do.”, referencing the minions who are holding a bat, fire extinguisher, and a trump flag. The minions are labeled: “QAnon, Oath keepers, and proud boys.” Sheneman’s cartoon is ridiculing the capital riots and Trump’s response to the matter. While Trump may respond by saying he did not encourage the capital riot, the use of minions in Sheneman’s cartoon implies that Trump’s followers will fight for him unconditionally and chaotically. I agree with Sheneman’s message that Trump is both irrational and ignorant of the damage he has caused to the mindset of many U.S. citizens. QAnon, a leader in the capital riot was wild and uncontrollable, a representation of how proud Trump followers can act. Regardless of whether they are instructed to or not, the “minions” are willing to make organized chaos against the government. Sheneman’s cartoon accurately depicts the implications of Trump’s time in office and his attitude toward electoral results.
