Inappropriate Behavior * NO Horseplay * NO tripping classmates or fooling around * NO tasting or smelling chemicals or other lab materials © Bethany Lau Lab Safety Appropriate Behavior #1 Rule: TELL YOUR TEACHER FIRE BLANKET Chemical spill or glass breakage: Name: _______________ * Know where the first aid kit is and what to do if you break glass and get cut or you spill a chemical on your skin. * Follow all teacher instructions for each different chemical. Your teacher will tell you how to dispose of each chemical safely. * Notify your teacher of any glass that breaks or any chemical that is spilled, on the table or on your skin or on the floor. * If you spill a large amount of a chemical on your clothes or skin, use the emergency shower (as directed by your teacher). In case of chemical exposure to eyes: * Wash eyes at eye wash station . (The eyewash should be flushed and cleaned often.) In case of fire: * Know where the fire blanket , the fire extinguisher , and the safety shower Just in Case © Bethany Lau are in your room. * If you or a classmate catches on fire , stop, drop, and roll, and cover with a fire blanket. * If possible and close to the safety shower, use the safety shower to extinguish flames on person with burning clothing and remove burned clothing while in the shower, if possible.
