NOTIFICATION TO CAPTAIN (NOTOC) M. Tayfour 1 Notification to Captain • The operator of an aircraft in which dangerous goods are to be carried must provide the pilot-in-command as soon as practicable prior to departure of the aircraft, with accurate and legible written or printed information concerning dangerous goods that are to be carried as cargo. M. Tayfour 2 Notification to Captain • This information should be presented on a dedicated form and not by means of “Air Waybills”, “Shipper’s Declaration for Dangerous Goods”, etc. Generally this information is presented on a “Special Load — Notification to Captain (NOTOC)” M. Tayfour 3 • The information to PIC must also include signed confirmation, or some other indication, from the person responsible for loading the aircraft , that there is no evidence of any damaged to or leakage from the packages or any leakage from the ULD loaded on the Aircraft M. Tayfour 4 • The captain must be advised of the species , location and quantity of all live cargo on board the aircraft. • The NOTOC must be readily available to PIC during fight . M. Tayfour 5 • When a PIC take over a transit aircraft, a notification for all the dangerous goods loaded at previous airport, and which remain on board the aircraft must be readily available. M. Tayfour 6 This information must include the following: (a) the Air Waybill number (when issued); (b) the proper shipping name, supplemented with the technical name(s); (c) the class or division; (d) the Packing Group as shown on the Shipper's Declaration; (e) (for non-radioactive material) the number of packages, (f) for radioactive material) the number of packages, overpacks, or freight containers, (g) whether the package must be carried on cargo aircraft only; (h) the airport at which the package(s) is to be unloaded; M.
