WHO İS THE BOSS Movement and guessing game Aims: Language: present continuous Other: Quick reactions, observation Procedure: 1 The object of the game is to find out who is the boss. Explain to the children that the boss' is someone who is in charge, a leader or captain, for example. Explain that a commentator is someone who tells radio or television listeners what is happening at a sporting event, and that a detective is a person who finds criminals. 2 The children choose a detective, who leaves the room. The rest of the children (quietly) choose a 'boss' and a commentator. 3 The children sit in a circle, all doing the same action (for example, clapping hands or snapping fingers). Ask the detective to come back into the room. 4 The commentator says We're clapping hands. The children continue to do this action but secretly watch the 'boss'.When the bass changes the action, all the players must try to do the same action almost immediately, so that the detective will not see who the boss is. 5 The commentator always describes cach new action. If the detective believes he or she knows who the boss is, he or she says Stop! I think the boss is .... If the guess is right, the detective joins the other children and the commentator becomes the new detective, leaving the room for a new round. If a detective guesses wrongly, he or she must watch more closely. If the child guesses wrongly three times, he or she must do a forfeit, for example, sing a SOnE 6 The game is over when the fun begins to diminish or when all the children have been either detective, commentator, or boss.
