Effective leadership is not constrained by managerial roles, personality traits or organisational structure. Good leaders, on the other hand, exemplify expert authority, credibility, trust and authenticity. This is what effective leadership is all about and it is an exciting time to be a part of it. (Mind Tools, 2020) 3 PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE OF MANAGEMENT 2.0 LEADER’S BACKGROUND Nurin Afiqah Binti Zulkifli known as Nurin Afiqah is an influencer, Zumba instructor, content creator and also an entrepreneur. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the International Islamic University of Malaysia (UIAM). (Nadz.my, 2022) Her first venture was Ropis Rangup which is banana poppy in September, 2019. She has transformed bananas into something that everyone will enjoy, which is banana wrap with spring roll skin, which no one has ever done before. (Aishah, 2021) Additionally, she launched NADA Identity in February 2022 out of her love and passion for modest fashion. NADA as a brand has progressively grown in popularity in the modest fashion sector. This momentum has served as the foundation for NADA’s goals of becoming a respected modest fashion brand on a global scale. 4 PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE OF MANAGEMENT 3.0 LEADER’S TRAIT’S Effective leaders in the workplace must possess certain leadership traits. Leadership attributes are crucial in almost any occupation since they are the most significant leadership abilities, which are soft skills rather than technical expertise or industry-specific experience. (Indeed, 2022) Nurin Afiqah, for example, can communicate with other guild members. As Chief Executive Officer (CEO), she must communicate with other employees such as supervisors and representatives who report to her. She is a solid spearhead as well. She views herself as accepts responsibility and accountability for any requests, errors or problems that occur in the organisation. This inspires others and fosters amazing teamwork. (CFI, n.d.) Decisive reasoning skills are used to analyse problems in the organisation, think critically and find the best solution. For example, she conducts innovative work (Research & Development) to ensure that innovation is ingrained in the organisation. Thus, it serves an important role in management by maximising efficiency and achieving strategic and organisation goals. 5 PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE OF MANAGEMENT 4.0 LEADER’S BEHAVIOUR A pioneer developed a solid sense of ethics and sincerity. For examples, Nurin Afiqah had experienced bullying while she was a high school student. She had blemishes on her front teeth for nine years. Her life did not change until she put on and removed her braces, as well as had three major and two minor surgeries. Despite being subjected vile name-calling and physical bullying, she refused to respond immediately or violently to her tormentors. Instead, she believes that self-empowerment is the most effective form of retaliation. (LerJun, 2020) As a pioneer, has the ability to influence those around her. For example, she gives positive energy to the people around her in whatever situation she faces obligation with progress until the matter she can advance. Thus, she will make an effort to ensure that employees have time each week to pursue creative endeavours unrelated to their jobs. This demonstrates that she prioritises harmony in her company by managing relationships. (WGU, 2020) 6 PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE OF MANAGEMENT 5.0 LEADER’S POWER Good leaders possess the kind of power that encourages teamwork, self-improvement and the development of a positive workplace environment. (McGuinty, 2019) Coercive power is transmitted through the experience of losing one’s job, being demoted, receiving a poor performance evaluation, losing a prime undertaking and so on. In this situation, she used her talent to exchange the worker for options because the worker was not doing admirably enough to create a benefit for the organisation. In this way, she selected a different representative who could fully commit to the task and create a motivating factor for the group. Nurin Afiqah is rose to the status of role models, they would spearhead a significant social reform movement by enabling others to acquire expertise. For instance, she has the skill because she had some talent before NADA Identity rose to prominence. Nurin previously stated that meeting other business people let her realise that regardless of where you are from, you face similar issues. 7 PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE OF MANAGEMENT 6.0 CONCLUSION It is hard to be a leader. Leaders nowadays must understand how important managerial positions and abilities are in this cutthroat environment. Having to research about Nurin Afiqah, she show us examples to help us understand what makes a great leader and what it takes to be one. To be a good leader, one must be respected, motivated and close to the group.
