A meter rule is used to measure straight lengths up to one meter.
Tape measure is used fo r longer lengths up to five meters as well as to
measure curved lengths.
Micrometer can measure up to 0.01 mm (0.001 cm). It can be used to
fine thickness such as wire diameter and paper thickness.
A measuring cylinder is used to measure volume of a liquid. It can also
be used to measure volume of an irregular shaped solid by volume
displacement method. A measuring cylinder used in laboratory usually
holds up to 100 cm3.
Analog clocks and digital stopwatches are used to measure time.
Digital stopwatches are used for higher precision and they are easier
to read.
To minimize human error due to reaction time in time measurement
and parallax error in length measurement, average of multiple
readings are taken to make accurate measurement.
