NOTE: 12-Amp converter is used in small payload robots typically 20 kg and under.
30-Amp converter is used in MA1800 and medium to large payload robots typically 50 kg and larger.
Description:
The DX100 can control up to eight robots and 72 axes. Most workcells use just a few
external axes and the DX100 controller has the capability of housing amplifiers for
three external axes inside the standard cabinet. The robot’s six axes backplane has been
expanded to provide heat sink and power capacity for two additional amplifiers to be
integrated with the robot axes. One of these would be used for a V-series 7-axis robot or
the motor for a servo spot gun. There is a third position inside the controller for a standalone amplifier with self-contained heatsink and converter. Stand-alone amplifiers are
typically be used to drive larger motors (> 3.2 kW) to prevent overtaxing the robot’s main
converter.
The above external axis amplifier kits are packaged for one, two or three external axes.
Using the motor chart provided, select the corresponding amplifier size. The final kit
part number would include the proper combination of integral and stand-alone amplifiers
for the proper positioner. Additional multi-axis kits will be available to house additional

DX100 EXTERNAL AXIS
AMPLIFIER KITS
Features:
• Lower cost and quick installation due to integrated amplifier design. All amplifiers use the
same electrical connectors.
• External axis daughter board, controls up to 3 axes (for 6-axis robots)
• Regen resistors and external cooling fans, where needed.
• Wire harnesses and mounting hardware (cable connectors located on rear of controller).
• Larger size transformer, where required.
• Not included: motors and external cables
NOTE: Standard contactor is sized to handle external axes power and 24 volt brake power
for all axes.
Compatibility:
• DX100 Controller with Sigma III and Sigma-V Series motors
