RECAP
We have learned that text
structure refers to the way
an author
arranges information in
his writing. Text structure
enables authors to
organize their thoughts as
they write. It also provides
a structure in which
information can be found
and understood while it is
being read.
Some of these text
structures are

There are many different
types of essay, but they
are often defined in four
categories: argumentative,

descriptive essays.

Biography and
Autobiography are another
example of literary
nonfiction.
Biography is simply the
story of a real person's life.
It could be about a person
who is still alive, someone
who lived centuries ago,
someone who is globally
famous, an unsung hero
forgotten by history, or
even a unique group of
people.

means SELF (auto), LIFE

the art of writing a letter
was considered an
important requirement.
Even today a letter is an
important means of
communication in both the
workspace as well as our
personal lives. So let us
educate ourselves with the
nuances of letter writing.
Diaries help us to organize
our thoughts and make them
apprehensible. You can
record daily events,
thoughts and feelings about
certain experiences or
opinions.
Letter Writing
. 1. Keep your thoughts
organized.
2. Improve your writing.
3. Set & achieve your goals.
4. Record ideas on-the-go.
5. Relieve stress.
6. Allow yourself to selfreflect.
7. Boost your memory.
8. Inspire creativity.
A letter is a written
message that can be
handwritten or printed on
paper. It is usually sent to
the recipient via mail or
post in an envelope,
although this is not a
requirement as such. Any
such message that is
transferred via post is a
letter, a written
conversation between two
parties.
Now that E-mails
(Advantages and
disadvantages) and texts
and other such forms have
become the norm for
communication, the art of
letter writing has taken a
backseat. However, even
today a lot of our
communication, especially
the formal kind, is done
via letters. Whether it is a
cover letter for a job, or
the bank sending you a
reminder or a college
acceptance letter, letters
are still an important mode
of communication. Which

Problem and Solution.
LESSON
Today, let us talk about
the Purpose of an
Informational Text: using
enumeration as its
structure.
Enumeration is a process
by which the writer is
listing details or
mentioning words or
phrases. It is a technique
used by an author in
writing.
Whenever an author
writes a text, paragraph or
line, he has many
reasons. There are three
main purposes. These are
to persuade, to inform
and to entertain.
1. The author writes to
persuade because he
wants you to believe on
what
you read.
Examples of texts written
to persuade include essays
and ads.
2. The author writes to
inform because he wants
to give an information of
a topic.
Examples of texts written
to inform include
encyclopedia and
textbooks.
3. The author writes to
entertain because he wants
you to enjoy what you
are reading.
essential part of the
writing as it helps the
writer stay focused. A

Types of Letters
Let us first understand that
there are broadly two types
of letter, namely Formal
Letters, and Informal
Letters. But then there are
also a few types of letters
based on their contents,
formalities, the purpose of
letter writing etc. Let us
have a look at the few
types of letters.
While an autobiography
and a biography both tell
the story of someone’s
life, they are not the same
thing. When a person
writes his or her own life
story, the finished work is
an autobiography. When
an author writes a book
about another person’s
life, the result is a
biography.
