CASE STUDY 1: Asia arrives at a large health clinic with an OTP program on March 12th. The

following information was recorded on her chart during his admission:“She is a girl of around 2 to
4years of age; she has been able to walk since 18 months of age. She does not have any
vaccination card. She has been anorexia, for several weeks. For approximately a week, she has
been having two semi-liquid stools per day. On examination: Her conjunctiva and nails are pale.
Her legs and feet have severe bilateral swelling which on formal testing is edema. Her hair pulls
out easily but is of normal color; her eyes appear to be slightly sunken. She doesn’t have any BCG
card. The rest of the examination doesn’t show anything in particular. Her rectal temperature is
37˚ Celsius, respiration rate normal and she has no IMCI signs of acute illness. She failed her
appetite test.” Her anthropometric measurements are: Weight: 11.4kg; Height: 96.5 cm and

3. CASE STUDY 3: 3 children were admitted during the month of November: 1 less than 1 year of
age were transferred from the SC, 1 of 18 months of age was sent by the CHW and was a
previous defaulter 4 months ago, 3 other children of 2years of age came spontaneously to the
OTP. Two other children were admitted already in the centre in October: a one-year and twoyear old children. Four children reached the criteria of discharge in November, 1 was absent
during a week and then came back the second week, lost weight and is still in the program.
Another one was transferred to the SC and came back a week ago. The average weight of the
children was 7kg and they consume 2 sachets of RUTF per day. From this information, you
have to do the monthly report.

6. Case study triage ?
A: five children arrived to jilab mch health center. The nurse aid did the first triage based on MUAC<125mm and
then took W/H as following:
1. Registration N°#: A boy with a MUAC of 12.2cm, a length of 85.2cm and a weight of 9.2kg.
2. Registration N°#: A girl with a MUAC of 11.5cm, a height of 87.9cm and a weight of 7.9kg
has a persistent skin fold. She had 6 liquid stools per day since 2 days according to the mother.
3. Registration N°#: A boy with a MUAC of 16.4cm, a height of 102.1cm and a weight of 16.5kg
has bilateral oedema on both feet and legs and his conjunctives are pale.
4. Registration N°#: A boy with a MUAC of 10.4cm, a height of 102.1cm and a weight of 16.5kg
has bilateral oedema on both feet and legs and his conjunctives are pale.
5. Registration N°#: A girl with a MUAC of 9.1cm, a height of 87.9cm and a weight of 7.9kg

7. Classification of malnutrition according to MUAC measurement?
The community Health Worker (CHW) of jilab village referred 14 children to the nearest OTP
centre according to their MUAC measurement.
