1 18th January to 22nd January 2021 2 Day 6 Subject: Science/HFLE Topic: Food Safety Sub-Topics: - The Human Skeleton and its parts. Objective: -Name different joints found in the human body. -State the location and function of joints in the human body. Content: JOINTS OF THE HUMAN SKELETON: What is a Joint? A joint is the joining of two or more bones. How many movable joints are there in the human body? There are four kinds of movable joints. They are: a. Ball-and-socket joints: -The ball and socket joints allow movement in all directions. Examples of the ball and socket joint are the hip joint and the shoulder to arm joints. b. Hinge joints: -The hinge joint allows forward and backward movements. Example of the hinge joint is the elbow joint. 3 c. Pivot joints: -The pivot joint allows a turning movement. Example of the pivot joint is the joint between the bones of the neck. d. Gliding joints: -The gliding joints allow slight movement only. Examples of the gliding joints are the joints in the ankle and in the wrist. GLIDING JOINT GLIDING JOINT Activities/ Worksheets: - Students complete worksheet on joints of the human skeleton. Part II: Instructions: Match by writing the letter of the correct movement on the line beside each type of joint. Part A: Joint Part B: Movement ________ Gliding Joint a. allows a turning movement ________ Ball-and-Socket Joint b. allows slight movement only ________ Hinge Joint c. allows movement in all directions ________ Pivot Joint d. allows forward and backward movement 5 Day 7 Subject: Mathematics Problem Solving Topic: Ratio, Proportion and Percentage Sub-Topics: -Partitive Proportion. Objective: Solve for given ratios using the partitive proportion principle. Content: Partitive Proportion: * Partitive Proportion is used to divide a whole number or a whole amount into parts proportional to the given. EXAMPLE: DIVIDE THE FOLLOWING INTO THE GIVEN RATIOS. 65 – 2: 3 (NOTE 65 IS THE WHOLE THAT NEEDS TO BE DIVIDED INTO RATIOS) First we find the total number of shares, Total shares= 2 + 3 = 5 We then write proportions to solve for each ratio, 5 shares = 65 2 shares = x x= 2 × 65x=3 × 65 5 x= 130 5 x= 26 5 shares= 65 3 shares= x 5 x= 195 5 x= 39 Activities/ Worksheets: - Students complete worksheet on solving for given ratios. Assessment: Worksheeton solving for shares in Partitive Proportion. Mesh 2020-21 Standard 6 Instructions: Divide the following in given ratios. EXAMPLE: 105 - 2:3 1. 44 - 1:3 ANSWER: Total shares= 2 + 3 = 5 5 shares = 105 2 shares = x x= 2 × 105 5 x= 210 5 x= 42 5 shares= 65 3 shares= x x=3 × 105 5 x= 315 5 x= 63 2. 497 - 2:5 4. 280 - 4: 7: 9 3. 5. 36 – 2: 3: 4 80- 4: 5: 7 7 6. 150 - 4:11 8. $1080 – 2:3:4 10. 50 – 2:3 7. $633 - 1:2 9. 666 – 1:2:3 8 Day 8 Subject: Mathematics Problem Solving Topic: Ratio, Proportion and Percentage Sub-Topics: -Partitive Proportion Word Problems. Objective: Solve for shares in a given partitive proportion word problem. Content: Partitive Proportion Word Problems: For Example: Four children decided to celebrate their parent’s anniversary by eating out in an expensive restaurant. They decided to divide the expenses into the ratio of 2: 3: 4: 5. How much would each of the children pay if it costs $ 7, 406? The first step would be to solve for one share: Where x = (the first share) 2x + 3x + 4x + 5x = 7406 14x = 7406 14 14 x = $529 OR 1 Part/ Share SHORTLY, 14 Parts/ Share = $7406 = $x x= 1 ● 7406 14 x= $529 .: First child = 2 (529) = $1058 .: Second child = 3 (529) = $1587 .: Third child = 4 (529) = $2116 .: Fourth child = 5 (529) = $2645 Activities/ Worksheets: - Students complete worksheet on solving for shares in Partitive Proportion word problems.
