Andrea B. Salinas BEED 1-A The difference between Arts Appreciation and Humanities. Art appreciation is all about appreciating the value of visual arts. It helps us understand and know the differences and messages of each arts. Arts can be found in everywhere that's why arts can be considered as an important thing especially into the artist's life. Singing, dancing, drawing, painting and film-making are some of the arts. Arts appreciation helps us to know the meaning of the arts and appreciate the creativeness of the artists that they are trying to express. Artists are the person that makes the arts with their feelings and thoughts. Everyone is an artist because everyone can create an art without them knowing it. Drawing a simple line is an art even though it is not that good but it is still considered as an art. Everything is an art, even if it is good or bad. The importance of Arts Appreciation is we will learn to view the opinions and perspectives of different person and we will learn has their own views and opinions in everything that they see. We will also learn the difference of arts, the different techniques and styles that they make. We will be able to appreciate the arts of artists and we will be inspired to create our own arts. Humanities refers to the arts that are concerned in the person's feelings, thoughts and expressions. Humanities in Arts is consists of seven arts: architecture, painting and sculpture, music, dance, the theater or drama and literature. Humanities need critical thinking skills and mindset to understand better the meaning of life and the message of the things that we can see. It is about critical thinking skills because the arts in Humanities has deep meaning and the thoughts here is narrow. Humanities is always connected in culture, history and religion. The example is the films that some artist are making are about the history such as Goyo and Rizal: The Movie. There are statues sculpted by sculptures that are connected in history such as The Monument of Bonifacio and The Monument of Dr. Jose Rizal in Luneta Park. These kind of arts has deep meaning and can be considered as a different art. The language is also a part of Humanities and the history of places. There's not much difference between the Arts Appreciation and Humanities and we can't easily define their difference, but Arts Appreciation is about knowledge and understanding in the field of arts while humanities is a subject that is always connected in culture, history, relationship with others, philosophy and religion. But the word that can easily define it's difference is the arts need creative mind and skills while the Humanities needs critical thinking skills in understanding the arts that we are reading, watching and the artists are making. Humanities needs critical and good analysis in analyzing the texts, the songs and the different types of arts that we are trying to analyze and understand. Humanities and arts are always part of our history and it also shows our history.
