NAME Jarryd Richardson SECTION OF DANCE 5th section (2nd last dance) THEME Bullying Explain the meaning or intent that you wanted to communicate to the audience for your dance? The meaning or intent that I wanted to communicate to the audience for my dance was that Bullying is not ok and that you are able to make a change in the world and able to stand up against bullying it shows that you can take a few punches and fall over but still get back up again and make a stand. Don’t let bullying get to you and make sure that after you get bullied don’t turn into the bully. Analyse how your theme links to the driving question ‘How can a movement change the world?’ Give specific examples from your dance to justify your response. My theme bullying links to the driving question ‘How can a movement change the world?’ because even if you can’t change the world, you can change something and even if it is something small it is still a change which also links back to our school’s four core values – Commitment. Respect, Inclusivity and Integrity linking back to my theme that you can stand against bullying and not bully which shows integrity because even though something happens to you and even if the emotions inside you are telling you not to do something you still do the right thing. Identify and Explain how you used choreographic devices in your section of choreography to communicate meaning. Give specific examples from your dance to justify your response. Choreographic I used a canon while we all were punching so I punched first, and the next person Device 1: did etc. It makes things more evident and shows more effect. Choreographic Device 2: Levels when we all fell back and then we tried to make different height levels for more impact Choreographic Device 3: We were in sync and gave more effect to our choreography Identify and Analyse how you used the elements of dance in your dance to communicate meaning. Give specific examples from your dance to justify your response. Space We were in a line, so we tried to evenly space out There was space during the canon when we punched sideways making the space between each of us either small or larger which influenced the audience while viewing the choreographic device. Time We tried to make the transitions cleaner and connecting Also, I used a canon to make it so that it takes time for the move to finish Dynamics While using movement and moving around we had some dynamics while falling over. Relationships The connection between people during the dance in terms of space was parallel throughout most of the dance. Evaluating your performance, do you think you successfully communicated your choreographic intent? Why or Why not? Give specific examples from your dance to justify your response. While evaluating my performance I don’t think I successfully communicated my choreographic intent because our canon was a bit scuffed, and it wasn’t sufficient in terms of time, and I don’t believe I did the dance for at least 30 seconds. Also, there wasn’t enough dance moves and wasn’t abstract enough and my dance moves were very plain. You couldn’t really tell that the theme was about bullying. What I was trying to show was that after the punches we got punched and fell over and got back up again. I should’ve made the dance more complex and more abstract.
