SPOKANE COMMUNITY COLLEGES 2005 UNIVERSITY OF PUGET SOUND TRANSFER AGREEMENT This guide is a reference to assist students at the Community Colleges of Spokane in their preparation for transfer to the University of Puget Sound. It contains general transfer credit information and lists Community College of Spokane courses that are transferable as University Core requirements, 100-200 level major requirements or electives. Community college courses that are similar to Puget Sound courses numbered at the 100 or 200 level are generally transferable. However, as transfer evaluations are done in the context of each student’s academic program, it is possible for an evaluation to include courses not listed in this guide as well as to exclude courses that are listed. Therefore, students are encouraged to seek the advice of the Puget Sound Office of Admission (253-879-3211 or 800396-7191) in selecting transfer courses, especially those students with specific plans. A maximum of 96 quarter credits may be transferred. Community college students who wish to complete an associate degree prior to transferring are encouraged to do so. However, the University evaluates all transfer credit on a course-by-course basis and an associate degree itself does not provide any direct benefit. Students should use the course listings in conjunction with the Community Colleges of Spokane 2003-2005 Catalog and the University of Puget Sound Bulletin 2004-2005. Due to the lag-time between the publication of the Bulletin and the publication of this guide, this guide is effective for the 2005 calendar year only and will be honored until 2007. This guide has two lists, one for courses that transfer as University Core requirements and one for transferable courses in general. Note any courses that must be taken in combination in order to transfer. If the combination is not completed, separate courses may not transfer. Students are therefore advised to complete a sequence of courses, rather than just one or two quarters. (For example, students studying calculus should complete Math 124, 125, and 126 rather than just Math 124 and 125). language requirement. Sophomore transfer students may complete 4 Core and the language requirement with transfer credit while junior transfer students may complete 5 Core courses and the language requirement with transfer credit.
