Villavicencio, Michaela Jean R. 19 -02724 On September 11, 2022, Sunday at about 1 p.m., Philippine Time, the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers - UAE Chapter, or PICE - UAE Organization, held a free webinar with the theme "Marine Engineering and Construction." Engr. Maryfel served as the master of ceremonies. The highlight of the event was led by Engr. Milandro S. Acuzar Jr. as he gave an overview of the transportation and installation procedures for an offshore permanent platform and for the Ports Maritime Engineering and Construction, headed by Engr. Joaquin B. Gamba Jr. According to Engr. Milandro S. Acuzar Jr., this session's goal is to to give the participants a fundamental understanding of the most widely used ideas in transportation and installation engineering techniques for building offshore platforms. He described offshore fixed platforms, load-out procedures, and maritime transit, offshore construction, and the upcoming offshore industry in the Philippines. The talk demonstrates how Engr. Milandro S. Acuzar Jr. is a master in his trade, and his knowledge speaks for itself. The basis for building an offshore platform with the aid of big cranes and ships is trigonometric calculations as well as body mechanics. Engr. Milandro gives images and videos so that we may understand how this building and transportation are carried out. After the presentation, the PICE-UAE then asked the audience a series of questions in the wake of the conversation, with the winners getting prizes and souvenirs from the group. The discussion was brought to an end with a Q&A session with the speaker, the awarding of certificates, and a group photo with all of the webinar attendees. Following a brief break, Engr. Joaquin B. Gamba Jr. discussed the design and construction of ports. According to Engr. Joaquin B. Gamba Jr., marine structures are those that are constructed underwater for the purpose of using marine resources and advancing development. It was said that, it uses a variety of technological disciplines, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, and computer science, to design, build, operate, and repair ocean and watercraft propulsion systems. He presented diagrams and numerous survey types that were necessary for the construction of the project. When discussing constructions created with the wave and current of bodies of water in mind, graphs and illustrations are also provided to help the audience comprehend how and why the construction would be done. After the discussion, PICE-UAE posted some questions, with BatStateU students coming out on top with a score of three out of four. The webinar highlighted the concepts and practical applications of engineering courses that we learnt about theoretically in college classrooms, fostering professionalism, career development and also the importance of numerous civil engineering topics, including hydraulics and geotechnics.
