3.06 Assignment: Life of Pets Example The alarm clock rings at 7:00 am but I have already been awake for who knows how long waiting patiently. My master shuts it off and shuffles out of bed to the bathroom. I wait anxiously by the door, ready for my first walk of the day. When he comes out I leap with excitement as I ponder the adventures that await me outside. He grabs my leash, hooks it to my collar and I bolt out the door! Zig zagging across the lawn, I use my nose to find the perfect spot to mark my territory. I greet my friends that are out this morning. Buddy from across the street, Cookie from around the corner, and Jackson from the cul-de-sac are all out with their masters and we say hello as we pass each other. I feel a sense of joy as I believe this to be the best morning ever! The sun warms my fur and I can see my master smiling down at me. I have a noticeable pep in my step as I hop from one lawn to the next. Suddenly a noise interrupts my walk. A loud beep and a crash! Oh no, the garbage truck here to ruin my perfect day! I am filled with terror as I run as fast as I can back towards the house, my master being pulled behind me. He is yelling at me to stop but I can’t and I won’t. Not until I am safely back inside. Once in the house my master scolds me for running so quickly but I am too overwhelmed with worry over what the garbage men will do today. Maybe they will try to hurt my master? Or me? I peek out the front window and watch as the garbage truck passes. Safe this time. I am filled with relief. I hear my master pouring my breakfast and I quickly gobble it up. Before I know it, it is time for my first nap. I take my usual spot on the couch and curl up. Before dozing off I think to myself, I guess today isn’t so bad after all.
