ENG 101 July 7th,2022 January 6th Hearing report The January 6th hearing took place on July 7, 2022, at the U.S court where the congressional committee was investigating the January 6th attack on the U.S capitol. A quickly scheduled number 6th hearing this month was held to investigate new and urgent evidence about the knowledge, and a previous statement that Former president Donald Trump made before, during, and after the insurrection. The former aid to Mark Meadows, Cassidy Hutchinson appeared as a witness to present the behavior of Donal Trump’s inner circle and her compelling reaction to it. She reported feeling frustrated, disappointed, and really offended by their behavior which resulted in her sadness. Former president Donal Trump is a republican even at the time of his elections. He, along with his republicans' Allies, defied the orders to not conduct the movement to the U.S capitol on January 6th, as several threats for electors' perjuries were given, and he was against his committee to not let his supporters in who had weapons. Many white house workers were very concerned and frustrated by his acts, and disobedience as he could have resulted in many charges against them. In his defense against the hearing, Donald Trump posted the following quote on his social media “January 6 was not merely a protest, it represented the greatest movement in the history of our Country to Make America Great Again. It was about an Election that was Rigged and Stolen and a Country that was about to go to HELL.” According to him, the 2020 election was cheated against, and such a movement to the capital was done in protest of retrying the election again and making the democratic election better again. Trump and his allies reunited for a protest, several speeches were made, and his request by Mike Pence was to reject some electoral votes and accepted others. As the request was refused, a lot of Trump’s Allies/protestors reunited outside the capitols and stormed the outer police barrier. And Trump’s speech was ended in this manner "We're going to the Capitol," he says. "We're going to try and give them [Republicans] the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country." But Trump returns to the White House and does not go to the capitol. The Capitol was threatened and attacked afterward as the protestors overcame the police, and several things were broken down. So, the January sixth hearing referred back to this event as several witnesses came to testify, and several pieces of evidence presented themselves in the courts. On January 6th, 2021, Several of Donal Trump’s supporters were not permitted to enter and hear his speech as they were carrying weapons, but the president was upset about it. He was further frustrated as his top-secret agent at the time refused to let him go to the capitol along with his supporters due to a shortage of resources, but his frustration led him to cause disturbance in the car as he grabbed the steering wheel to move it toward the capitol ( as reported by Cassidy’s Testimony in court). It was also observed that the President dismissed several violent threats, not only against his committee but also against the Vice President. In summary, several accusations raised today are: - The knowledge of Trump about the weapons, and the chance of violence - He wanted to march into the capitol - He assaulted his security chiel - Witnessed Tampering by Trump Allies As several accusations are made against him, and witnesses are terrifying, Donald Trump posted several quotes defending himself and calling out the actions of the courts as ignorant in his eyes. As the hearing keeps going, the committed are receiving more and more evidence for criminal cases. That still remains in the hands of the Department of Justice, and more hearings are headed, just the dates are not known yet.
