Ponce, together with the teaching and non-teaching personnel, parents and learners celebrated the whole month of February 2022 as National Dental Health Month with the theme, “Brushing is a must, kahit naka-Mask”. This month-long celebration’s main objective is to continuously raise awareness about the importance of children’s oral health even amidst the battle of COVID-19 pandemic. One of the activities conducted by the school is the updating and posting of dental health advocacy materials in prominent and visible areas in the classroom and school clinic. Teachers printed downloaded materials and posted it on their respective classroom bulletin board. The school also received dental hygiene kits from the Division office and was distributed to elementary school teachers. These kits include toothbrush, flouride/toothpaste and liquid handsoap. In preparation for the incoming face to face classes, teachers prepared ready to use hygiene kits for learners which includes toothbrush, toothpaste, handsoap, towel, and hand sanitizer/alcohol. To celebrate the National Dental Health Month at home, learners were also encouraged to brush their teeth twice a day everyday. This activity was relayed through group chats and through parents during the distribution and retrieval of modules. Learners took pictures doing the toothbrushing and sent it to their teachers or group chats in support with the month-long celebration. Furthermore, those who can access online viewing, they were invited to watch dental episodes of LAMDAG through Facebook page. Overall, the National Dental Health Month Celebration of Cruz Lanzado Saligan Integrated School was successful. Even with the limited contacts with the learners due to lack of communication devices among the learners, teachers have successfully relayed the advocacy of promoting dental health among the learners through their parents.
