CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1
Project Details:
Describe your project in detail. Put focus on the application and applied science,
engineering and technology in your description. Also, mention how significant this
project is and its impact.
1.2
Background and Motivation:
Background:
Provide a brief description of existing solutions with advantage and disadvantage of each
solution. If you are trying to develop something new then related research will be
mentioned in this section. Add at least five related products or solutions. You will
provide elaborate background study at 2.1 section.
Motivation:
Why this project? How this will help people or solve a problem? Are you trying to solve
a problem from your experience? Are you trying to learn new things or preparing for a
competition? In this section, write down what motivated you to take on this project.
1.3
Project Goal:
Although the goal of the project may change in the project development phases, here, list
all the features/functionality/usefulness that this project will achieve by the timeline.
[use 14 bold for the section title and 12 font size for the body of sections. provide
name+number for each figure, table etc.]
CHAPTER 2
TECHNICAL DESIGN
2.1
Existing Solution:
Use section 1.2 and add detail of designs to that level at which proposed solution will be
compared.
Provide a thorough description of existing solutions with advantage and disadvantage of
each solution. Add diagrams and related images.
If you are trying to develop something new then related research will be included with
references in this section.
Add at least five related products or solutions.
2.2
Proposed Solution:
Use previous section and provide a complete description your project with the view of
proposed goal, section 1.3.
2.3
Solution Assessment:
Compare your proposal with existing solutions.
2.4
Design Alternative
If you have any alternate proposal or you are going to develop a prototype, then explain
its compatibility.
2.5
Technical Design: Module Level
Use a block diagram to explain your project. You can use flow diagram or circuit
diagram and explain operation principle using modules. Focus on overall functionality in
this section
2.6
Technical Design: System Level
Provide detail measurements of your device and drawings.
Provide theories and equations of your calculations.
Explain each module in details.
2.7
Required Skills:
List all the skills required to complete the project.
CHAPTER 3
ESSENTIAL PARTS AND DEVICES
3.1
Description of Components:
Provide in a table and describe the required Components/Tools/ Software/facilities for
designing the device.
3.2
Test Requirements:
Provide in a table and describe the required Components/Tools/ Software/Facilities
for testing your device in development phases.
CHAPTER 4
WORKING SHEETS
4.1
Work Breakdown Structure:
Use table/chart to provide weekly schedule of your project. As we have 12+12 scheduled
meetings, so divide your work into 24 weeks and tabulate it in this section.
4.2
Financial Plan and Costs:
Explain how you are going to finance your project costs. How will you divide your
expanses and what are deadlines for payment?
If you could manage funding then mention it here. You can also mention if you have tried
somewhere.
Also, tabulate your overall costs.
Analyze your expanses and discuss what will be the cost for reproducing the device.
CHAPTER 5
PROJECT SUMMARY
5.1
Result and Discussion:
Explain in details your test runs and results. Discuss if you find any error.
Provide reason and margin of error in your result discussion.
5.2
Feasibility Study:
How your project is feasible or viable based on the following criteria:
Financial perspective – cost effectiveness
Resource availability
Social importance
Legal issues if any
Safety issues – suggestion regarding safe operation
Environmental issues
Ethical issues
5.3
Problem Faced and Solutions:
Discuss in details what problems you faced to achieve the project’s goal. How did you
solved/addressed that problem?
Use title and separate paragraphs for each problem.
5.4
Future Development:
How the design can be improved.
How the product can be made compact and polished.
Also discuss how costs can be reduced furthermore.
What are the steps before you take this project into any competition or exhibition etc
