These skills and talents we have in common are crucial not just for our team and project, but for every advocacy and team as well. These are the things that we need to have for us to be able to make and execute our project smoothly and be able to really help what we advocate for. The rest of the skills and talents we have fill in each other’s gaps, meaning that we’ll be able to have our own role and part in our project based on what we are capable of. b. How many hours per week can you devote to the project? = Since our team consists of college students, we all have classes almost everyday, having only tuesday and sunday as our free days. However, our team decided to devote one hour per day, and 2 or more than every Tuesday and Sunday, a total of 9 hours or more than a week to talk about our project and make plans about it before actually executing our project. Hopefully, after our midterm examinations, we would be able to allot more time to finally execute our project into reality. c. How soon do you want to do the project? = After midterm examinations d. What is a realistic amount of money you will be able to raise for the project? = 24,000 Pesos e. Do you have any materials at hand that will be helpful? What are those and explain briefly the uses. Two of our members have pet dogs, which are Sophoea and I, they have some extra materials that other dogs/cats can use; 1. Leash - when capturing strays can be hard because they don’t just trust people that easy so if we want to help them we need leash to hold them and helped them to go to our shelter 2. Cage - there’s an extra cage in our house but we don’t use it anymore, it can help dogs/cats to not escape under our care because they have a new environment that they don’t know and I know cats/dogs only want to be in a place where they are familiar with. 3. Dog foods - we have a different kind of dog food we give to our pets but we need to share it to the animals who need more who're really starving in the streets. 4. Food Bowls - dogs/cats need clean bowls to eat their food because eating on the floor is dangerous, it has a lot of bacteria that can develop a virus to unvaccinated animals. 5. Toys - stray dogs/cats also deserve to play because I know dogs/cat can lessen their stress when playing with them. 6. Shampoo/Soap - animals need to be always clean to avoid deadly infections that can be found on the streets, when we help them at our shelter they need to be clean first. 7. Electric fan - a lot of dogs/cats are uncomfortable in our country because we have hot weather and they need somewhere cool to lessen their stress. 8. Clothes - dogs/cats also need clothes to protect their skins because some floors are rough that can develop skin diseases and also to warm them when they are sleeping. III. Choose a project. Our team decided to choose Animal Welfare, wherein we adopt stray dogs and cats, gather youths to actively participate in our advocacy, and to help PAWS to achieve its goals as well which is to prevent animal cruelty through spreading awareness, animal sheltering, and advocacy. Development Plan. a. Objectives = We see a lot of stray dogs everyday in our community searching for food and fighting for their life. It is always survival they face in their everyday lives, they go through a lot of hardships, especially dealing with their surroundings and with strange people. They don’t have the same priviledge unlike us humans, they can’t talk to ask for food or what they need but rather express themselves by giving us a sign or message, that’s why we make this project to provide their needs even in just a small way dedicated to them. We find their lives very meaningful as well and they deserve a place wherein they can call it their home, that is why we want to help these stray cats and dogs. b. Objective to Project Implementers (Preparation for the Activity) = It is an activity in our community to support university students in achieving the goal of becoming more active in social problems such as nurturing good care for our stray pets. Ø Develop the students' character involvement to make them realize that by doing small things, they can have a big impact on others. Ø Develop their leadership abilities and hold them accountable. Ø Accept new learning experiences while performing tasks. Ø Create camaraderie among the colleagues Ø Train each volunteer or member to be friendly and patient with the stray dogs and cats Ø Recruit a volunteer Veterinarian to check-up the stray dogs and cats Ø Utilize social media platforms to spread awareness regarding the project, and to find people who are willing to donate and help in funding the project Ø Find and encourage people to donate to the project Ø Make flyers and posters Ø Buy the materials and things needed for the project Ø Group members and/or volunteers will be assigned to their tasks/roles and schedule for the whole week. c. Beneficiaries Ø To the community, there will be no traffic, accidents, or injuries caused by roaming stray dogs; in addition, they will no longer blame the dogs for the rabies they can cause to the people Ø To the people who love pets; they can properly adopt stray dogs through our project legally d. How many respondents do you realistically think you will be able to get to help you? = Our team hopes that at least 50% people in our community will participate and support this project, especially those who have concerns with nurturing and taking good care of stray pets, and those who want to be a part of our project by volunteering or spreading awareness. V. Recruit your volunteers. a. Recruiting Volunteers = Our team will be utilizing different social media platforms primarily facebook, instagram, and twitter as these are the top 3 platforms that has a lot of users, which would significantly help us reach more people to be aware of our project and advocacy, and we would have a higher chance to recruit more volunteers, and find more people who want to donate for the project. = Our team will be making a poster and we will ask someone from our community if we can put it in their house, store, gate, etc. = Our team will also make flyers and distribute them in our barangay, so that a lot of people will be aware of the project we are making. b. Who could be your teammates in the service? = Volunteers who love and are friendly to stray animals - because they have the will to take care and help them, as they can also be the ones who are gonna guard and monitor the animals = Veterinarian - our team will put an effort in finding a veterinarian who is very willing to volunteer to take care and do check-ups for our stray dogs and cats, as veterinarians are the ones who have expertise in animals. = Volunteers throughout the project can also adopt their own pet from the dogs and cats we have collected. VI. Make a budget plan. a. How much money is going to be needed in your project. = P16,500 (main expenses) + P7,500 (other expenses) = P24,000 b. Time can each person commit to the project. Example: Present in the form of a table about your schedule day and time to serve. Group of Volunteers Time/Schedule Group #1 7:00 am - 12:00 nn Group #2 12:00 nn - 5:00 pm Group #3 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm VIII. Raise money a. How will you raise your money? Give a detailed plan about it. If you ask for donations, make a sample letter. = As we have said in the upper parts, our team plans to make a donation drive by posting it to various social media platforms, giving out flyers, and putting posters to different places to reach a wide number of people, by that, people will become aware of our advocacy and goal for our Community Service Project. We are also hoping to have partners with us as we invited some community groups and agencies that could help us and support our project financially to better take care of the animals until we find them their home. We have allotted a lot of time to save up money from the donations and hopefully, from our partners. IX. Do the project a. Ask and evaluate your plan if the school could implement the project. b. Thank you! Best Regards, Accountancy Students Polytechnic University of the Philippines b. Invitation Program XI. Reflections (Individual) DASSUN,SOPHOEA ELIZAH F. If this project is approved, I will be extremely honored because our stray pets will be given the opportunity to be cared for and feel as if they are not abandoned. They will no longer face struggles and wonder where they can get food to survive. I am immensely thankful to the volunteers who support this project. My relief to all stray pets that they deserve to be loved by our community and not avoided, tortured, or worse served as an appetizer to a celebration. Gonzales, Cherish Ann I love dogs a lot, therefore making this project I know that we should pursue this and we can help stray dogs/cats to have a new life. It can be hard to earn that amount of money but we will try our best to look for our sponsors and hope for better homes for strays. As a college student I should contribute to our community as much as I can, whether this project be approved or not I will still help stray dogs to give their basic needs everyday. Mendoza, Micah S. There are a lot of small little ways to help your community, however, it will take a lot of strength, effort, and time to do it, especially if you want to widen the reach of your help or service. It will really be salient, not only for the primary reach of your service, but also to the people itself around your community as it will bring awareness and can encourage them to help in their own little ways. With that, the people in our community will contribute significant progress and development in the long run. So, having the opportunity to acknowledge the things that our community needs to improve is such a great chance to be able to help in our own way and to be aware about these things as well. That’s why after listing down various problems and issues we see around our community, our team has decided to choose animal welfare for our community service. We have seen the issue of stray dogs and cats having no home and not being able to eat proper food simultaneously. These dogs and cats are also prone to danger outside almost all the time. We really want to stress the importance of the life of these pets through our community service. In addition, I have become aware of this issue because of this project. I’m not a pet person, so I didn’t really give that much attention to the life of stray dogs and cats. Nonetheless, I’m grateful that this project and especially my group mates helped me to understand and be aware of this matter. Quilente, Irish May XII.
