Directions: Select an explorer from the Renaissance era and conduct research to answer each of

be no more than 50 words in length with a total for the entire diary of 250 words.
Entry 1: How did you finance your voyage? The government of King Francis I of France
commissioned my expedition.
Entry 2: What was the goal of your voyage? I am looking for a northwest passage way to Asia in
search of gold and spices.
Entry 3: What obstacles did you encounter? I lost many a man during vicious Indian attacks.
Harsh winters also prohibited the potential of further explorations.
Entry 4: Did you achieve your original goal? Why or why not? My mission was not a direct
success I achieved many other things and set the stage for other explorers in the 16 th and 17th
centuries.
Entry 5: What will be the legacy of this voyage? It was successful in other ways that intended
but it was not a waste.
Post voyage reflection: What do you hope will be the (long-term) benefits of your voyage and
discovery? I hope we are able to use this to discover more later on.
