Diesel Engine Driver - shall be connected to horizontal-shaft pump by flexible couplings - For connections to vertical-shaft fire pumps, right-angle gear drives and universal joints shall be used - An engine jacket water heater shall be provided to maintain a temperature of 49 degrees C 120 degrees F in accordance with NFPA 20. Controller for Diesel Engine Driven Fire Pump - Controller shall require the pump to run for 60 minutes prior to automatic shutdown - Controller shall be equipped with two battery chargers; two ammeters; two voltmeters, one for each set of batteries - Controller shall automatically alternate the battery sets for starting the pumps - Controller shall be equipped with the following supervisory alarm functions: a. Controller for Diesel Engine Driven Fire Pump - Controller shall be equipped with a 7-day electric pressure recorder with 24-hour back-up mounted inside the controller - The pressure recorder shall provide readout of the system pressure from 0 to 207 Pa 0 to 300 psi, time, and date - The controller shall be equipped with an audible alarm which will activate upon any engine trouble or pump room trouble alarm condition and alarm silence switch - Controller shall be equipped with terminals for field connection of a remote alarm for main switch mis-set, pump running, engine trouble and pump room trouble; and terminals for remote start. - When engine emergency overspeed device operates, the controller shall cause the engine to shut down without time delay and lock out until manually reset. Batteries - shall be sealed lead calcium batteries. - Batteries shall be mounted in a steel rack with non-corrosive, non-conductive base, not less than 300 mm 12 inches above the floor. Pressure Sensing Line - A completely separate pressure sensing line shall be provided for each fire pump and for the jockey pump - The sensing line shall be arranged in accordance with of NFPA 20 - Two test connections shall be provided for each sensing line. Test connections shall consist of two brass 15 mm 1/2 inch globe valves and 8 mm 1/4 inch gauge connection tee arranged per NFPA 20. One of the test connections shall be equipped with a 0 to 1380 kPa (0 to 300 psi) water oil-filled gauge - Sensing line shall be connected to the pump discharge piping between the discharge piping control valve and the check valve. SCOPE OF WORKS 2. DESIGN, SUPPLY, INSTALLATIOM, TESTING AND COMMISSIONING OF FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM Fire pump f. Jockey Pump - Pressure maintenance pump shall be electric motor driven, regenerative or vertical multi-stage centrifugal pump with a rated discharge of 25 gpm at 150 psig - An approved indicating gate valve of the outside screw and yoke (O.S.&Y.) type shall be provided in the maintenance pump discharge and suction piping. - Oil-filled water pressure gauge and approved check valve in the maintenance pump discharge piping shall be provided. - Check valve shall be swing type with removable inspection plate. SCOPE OF WORKS 2. DESIGN, SUPPLY, INSTALLATIOM, TESTING AND COMMISSIONING OF FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM Fire pump g. Jockey Pump Controller - Pressure maintenance pump controller shall be arranged for automatic and manual starting and stopping and equipped with a "manual-off-automatic" switch. - The controller shall be completely pre-wired, ready for field connections, and wallmounted in a NEMA Type 2 drip-proof enclosure. - The controller shall be equipped with a bourdon tube pressure switch or a solid state pressure switch with independent high and low adjustments for automatic starting and stopping. - A sensing line shall be provided connected to the pressure maintenance pump discharge piping between the control valve and the check valve. - The sensing line shall conform to paragraph, PRESSURE SENSING LINE. SCOPE OF WORKS 2. DESIGN, SUPPLY, INSTALLATIOM, TESTING AND COMMISSIONING OF FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM Fire pump g. Jockey Pump Controller - Pressure maintenance pump controller shall be arranged for automatic and manual starting and stopping and equipped with a "manual-off-automatic" switch. - The sensing line shall be completely separate from the fire pump sensing lines. - An adjustable run timer shall be provided to prevent frequent starting and stopping of the pump motor. - The run timer shall be set for 2 minutes. - The controller shall be suitable for 460 volts, three phase, sixty cycles power source. Diesel Fuel System External To Engine - Fuel system shall be provided that meets all requirements and advisory provisions of NFPA 20 and NFPA 37. - The fuel tank vent piping shall be equipped with screened weatherproof vent cap. - Vents shall be extended to the outside - Each tank shall be equipped with a fuel level gauge. - Flexible bronze or stainless-steel piping connectors with single braid shall be provided at each piping connection to the diesel engine. - Supply, return, and fill piping shall be steel piping, except supply and return piping may be copper tubing. SCOPE OF WORKS 2. DESIGN, SUPPLY, INSTALLATIOM, TESTING AND COMMISSIONING OF FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM Fire pump h. Diesel Fuel System External To Engine - Fuel lines shall be protected against mechanical damage. - Fill line shall be equipped with 16 mesh removable wire screen. - Fill lines shall be extended to the exterior - A weatherproof tank gauge shall be mounted on the exterior wall near each fill line for each tank. - The fill cap shall be able to be locked by padlock. The engine supply (suction) connection shall be located on the side of the fuel tank so that 5 percent of the tank volume provides a sump volume not useable by the engine. - The elevation of the fuel tank shall be such that the inlet of the fuel supply line is located so that its opening is no lower than the level of the engine fuel transfer pump. SCOPE OF WORKS 2. DESIGN, SUPPLY, INSTALLATIOM, TESTING AND COMMISSIONING OF FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM Fire pump h. Diesel Fuel System External To Engine - The bottom of the tank shall be pitched 21 mm per meter 1/4 inch per foot to the side opposite the suction inlet connection, and to an accessible 25 mm 1 inch plugged globe drain valve. SCOPE OF WORKS 2. DESIGN, SUPPLY, INSTALLATIOM, TESTING AND COMMISSIONING OF FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM Fire pump h.1. Diesel Fuel Tanks - UL 80 or UL 142 for aboveground tanks. The diesel tank must have a capacity for 8 hours h.2. Valves - An indicating and lockable ball valve shall be provided in the supply line adjacent to the tank suction inlet connection. - A check valve shall be provided in fuel return line. - Valves shall be suitable for oil service - Valves shall have union end connections or threaded end connections. SCOPE OF WORKS 2. DESIGN, SUPPLY, INSTALLATIOM, TESTING AND COMMISSIONING OF FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM Fire pump i. Pump Base Plate and Pad - A common base plate shall be provided for each horizontal-shaft fire pump for mounting pump and driver unit. - The base plate shall be constructed of cast iron with raised lip tapped for drainage or welded steel shapes with suitable drainage. - Each base plate for the horizontal fire pumps shall be provided with a 25 mm 1 inch galvanized steel drain line piped to the nearest floor drain - Pump units and bases shall be mounted on a raised 150 mm (6 inches) reinforced concrete pad that is an integral part of the reinforced concrete floor. Flow Meter - Meter shall be UL and FM approved flow meters for fire pump installation with direct flow readout device - Flow meter shall be capable of metering any waterflow quantities between 50 percent and 150 percent of the rated flow of the pumps. - The flow meter shall be arranged in accordance with Figure A-2-14.2.1 of NFPA 20. - The meter throttle valve and the meter control valves shall be O.S.&Y. valves. - Automatic air release shall be provided if flow meter test discharge is piped to the pump suction and forms a closed-loop meter arrangement as defined in Figure A-214.2.1 of NFPA 20. Sprinkler Head Suspended Ceiling: Standard pendent type with matching push and escutcheon plate, chrome plated head finish, glass bulb type, temperature rated for specific area hazard, heads shall have nominal 15 mm (0.53 inch) orifice, 74°C. Exposed area type standard upright type, chrome plated head, glass bulb type, temperature rated for specific area, hazard standard head orifice is 15 mm (0.53 inch). Extended sidewall type standard horizontal sidewall type with matching push on escutcheon plate, chrome plate, chrome plated head finish, class bulb type temperature rated for specific area hazard. Cabinet - Provide metal cabinet with extra sprinkler heads and sprinkler head wrench to be turned-over to its authorized representative. - The number and type of extra sprinkler heads shall be as specified in NFPA 13. Aboveground Pipe and Fittings - Steel piping shall be Schedule 40. - Fittings into which sprinkler heads, sprinkler head riser nipples, or drop nipples are threaded shall be welded, threaded, or grooved-end type. - Rubber gasketed grooved-end pipe and fittings with mechanical couplings shall be permitted in pipe sizes 40mm and larger. - Fittings shall be UL listed or FM approved for use in wet pipe sprinkler systems. - Fittings, mechanical couplings, and rubber gaskets shall be supplied by the same manufacturer. Piping Specialties Wet Fire Alarm Valve: Check type valve with divided seat ring, rubber faced clapper to automatically actuate electrically or hydraulically operated alarms complete with retard chamber alarm test valve, alarm shut off valve, drain valve, pressure gauges, accessories and appurtenances for proper operation of the system. Water Motor Alarm: Hydraulically operated impeller type alarm with aluminum alloy red enameled gone and motor housing, nylon rearing and inlet strainer. Electric Alarm : Electrically operated red enameled gone with pressure alarm switch. Water Flow Switch: Vane type switch for mounting horizontal with 2 contact rated and design volt AC SCOPE OF WORKS 2. Identification Signs - Attach properly lettered and approved metal signs to each valve and alarm device. f. Valves - NFPA 13. Provide valve of types approved for fire services. Gate valves shall be open by counterclockwise rotation - Provide an OS & Y valve beneath each alarm valve in each riser - Check valves shall be flanged clear opening swing check type with flanged inspection access cover plate. Inspector’s Test Connection - Provide test connections approximately 1.8 meters (6 feet) above the floor for each sprinkler system - Provide test connection piping to a location where the discharge will be readily visible and where water may be discharge without property damage. h. Pipe Sleeves - Provide where piping passes through walls and floors - Grout sleeves in position and location during construction. - Firmly pack space with non-combustible in insulation. - Caulk both ends of the sleeve with plastic waterproof cement which will dry to a firm but pliable mass, or provide a segmented elastomeric seal. Sleeves in Masonry and Concrete Walls And Floors - Provide ASTM A53 or ASTM A120, hot-dipped galvanized steel pipe sleeves. j. Escutcheon Plates - Provide one piece or split hinge type metal plates for piping passing through walls, and floors in exposed spaces. - Provide polished stainless steel plates. - Secure plates in proper position. Portable Fire Extinguisher - Portable fire extinguisher shall be UL listed with bracket for wall mounting. - Halon fire extinguisher or equivalent shall be provided in electrical rooms. All piping and valve arrangements shall be approved by the owner or its authorized representative prior to installation - Pipes shall be schedule 40 B.I pipe - Risers shall be sized per hydraulic calculations from riser base through the fittings to cross mains serving the topmost story. - Pipe shall be marked with the name of the manufacturer, kind of pipe, and ASTM designation. - Connections and fittings shall be threaded, flanged, grooved, or welded. Groove less clamp or saddle fittings are not acceptable. - Reducing fittings shall be tapered cast metal products. Where grooved couplings are used, there shall be a separate coupling for each connection to the reducing fitting. SCOPE OF WORKS 2. All valves to be used shall be UL listed and conform to the following specifications: • Gate Valves - Four-inch pipe size and larger: OS&Y type, iron body, resilient seated. - Three-inch pipe size and smaller: OS&Y type, bronze gate with solid wedge. • Angle Valves: bronze angle valve with screw-in bonnet, integral seat, and renewable disc. • Globe Valves: bronze glove valve. • Check Valves - iron body, bronze mounted, horizontal swing check valve with bolted bonnet. - Check valves shall be designed for replacement of internal parts without removal of valve body from piping - Bosses on each side of clapper shall be drilled and tapped for gauge installation. Indicate location of the alarm in custom label at the Liquid Crystal display (LCD). Sound all the fire alarm bells and/or horns, light zone lamp at the remote graphic Annunciator corresponding to the affected area. While, textual annunciators shall display the following information from the FACP: 1. Activated device’s address 2. Custom alpha label of the device’s location 3. Time and Date c. Conduit traversing the building shall be laid underground. It shall be rigid plastic conduit – schedule 40, brand shall be “Neltex” or “Emerald” otherwise it shall be metal conduit. g. Construct underground duct lines of individual conduits encased in concrete. The concrete encasement surrounding the bank shall be rectangular in cross-section and shall provide at least 76mm of concrete cover for ducts. Separate conduits by a minimum concrete thickness of 50mm. Except separate light and power conduits from control and signal, conduits by a minimum concrete thickness of 76mm. h. The top of the concrete envelop shall not be less than 0.46m below grade except that under roads and pavement it shall be not less than 0.60m below grade. SCOPE OF WORKS 3. Being a Lump Sump contract, it means: Fix Contract Price Any work/s not listed or specified in the Bid Documents but is necessary in the design, construction, rectification, use, operation, and maintenance of the Works are included as part of the Contractor’s responsibility under the design obligation of “fit for purpose”. The Contractor shall ensure that the Works shall be constructed in accordance with the purpose of the Owner. The Bidder shall include in its Bid all items which it considers necessary in the construction, use, operation and maintenance of the Work (completeness of bid). The Contractor shall not be entitled to any adjustment in the Contract Price due to any failure to specifically include such necessary items in its Bid (failure to enter item/price in the Bid). SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS Return of Bid Documents - All Bid Documents received by the Bidders shall be returned and attached to the Technical Bid (only 1 set). All pages of the returned Bid Documents shall be signed by the authorized signatory of the Bidder as confirmation that the Bidder has understand these Bid Documents and is bound by these once awarded with the Contract. Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure - All data, drawings and other information received by the Bidders in the course of the Bidding shall be kept confidential and shall not be disclosed to any party. Any breach of this condition shall be dealt with in accordance with the Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement. Completeness and Sufficiency of Bid Proposals – Bidders shall supply the complete data required in the Bid Forms (Technical and Commercial) and the required Documents to avoid delay in the review and evaluation of the bid proposals. ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS Binding of Bids – All Bids must be neatly bound (or ring bound), with cover page duly marked either as “Technical Bid” or “Commercial Bid”. PROJECT COMPLETION Required completion and turn-over of the works covered by this Construction Package shall be in CALENDAR DAYS Day one (1) of the project starts seven (7) days from date of receipt of written Notice to proceed or Purchase Order (PO), whichever comes first.
