on their first day at school. First day of
school activities can be of help to stimulate
introductions, get the students talking and
set the tone for successful classroom
management.

A. Getting to know each other. Meet and
greet with the learners with a smile and a
warm welcome. Tell learners a little about
yourself. Inform students about policies and
guidelines. Talk about the rules and
procedures in the classroom.
B. Draw a Self- Portrait Worksheet
Provide a self- portrait worksheet as a
beginning- of- year activity. When
everyone is finished, have each student
present their self- portrait to the class as a
formal introduction to their colleagues and
to yourself.
C. Orientation Proper
Conduct a classroom- based orientation on
curriculum, subjects that they will be
studying, learning competencies, types of
assessments and grading policies.

Provide sufficient examples on adding
and subtracting integers using the rule
and by also using algebra tiles and the
number line.
D. Developing Mastery
Provide a seatwork on adding and
subtracting integers. Students may apply
the rule in adding and subtracting
integers, or they can also use algebra
tiles and the number line. When they are
finished, let students show their answers
on the board.
E. Application
Provide an activity which lets the
learners illustrate, using the number line,
the results of adding or subtracting
negative and positive integers.
F. Evaluation
Add and/ or subtract two given integers
using concrete materials or pictorial
representations, and record the process
symbolically.
