Supermarket
There are two possible sites for building a new supermarket in the town of Garlsdon, marked as
S1 and S2 on the map. Both sites are near the railway, which guarantees neighbouring towns the
accessibility to the new supermarket. However, S1 is more convenient for the town of Hindon,
whose population is limited to the number of 10,000, while S2 is for the town of Cransdon, of
which the population is up to 29,000.
The chosen site of S1 is in the northwest to Garlsdon, situated in countryside and far away from
town centre, in which no cars are allowed to pass since it is a pedestrian zone. S1 is more
accessible to residents who live in the western half of housing area than those in the eastern half.
On the other hand, S2’s service area covers way bigger than S1 as a result of its location is right in
the middle part of the town, which approximately can be seen as symmetric. Also, being set in
town centre provides S2 with rich customer base. Notwithstanding, it might affect customers’
purchase intention because customers have to carry all things they have bought and walk to
parking lots.
Stadium
The university sports centre has two main functional areas, consisting of an indoor stadium and
two outdoor courts, which are located both sides of the stadium respectively. There is a 25
square metre pool in the heart of the stadium, right behind the reception desk as you walk in. On
the left side of the pool is a changing room, while seating area is located on the other side.
Behind the pool is a gym.
After redevelopment of the centre, the original structure of indoor stadium will remain the same,
but the stadium will extend and then cover all outdoor courts. In the eastern half, there will be a
new sports hall beside the seating area; scale of the gym will expand approximately twice as big
as it is; following the gym are two dance studios, which are set in the easternmost side of the
centre. Also, there will be one out of two newly-built changing room in the southeastern corner,
beside which is a cafe.
For the western half, beside the current changing room is a leisure pool. In the southwestern
corner, there is another new changing room, accompanied by a sports shop.
