Wheat and Tares

What is Wheat
What the Bible says…
Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto
repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier
than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will
baptize you with the Holy Spirit [a]and fire. 12 His
winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly
clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat
into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with
unquenchable fire.”
What the Bible says…
Mat 13:3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying:
“Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some
seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.
5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth;
and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of
earth. 6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and
because they had no root they withered away. 7 And some fell
among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. 8 But
others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a
hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
What the Bible says…
John 12:23 But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour
has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. 24 Most
assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the
ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces
much grain. 25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who
hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If
anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there
My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father
will honor.
What the Bible says…
1 Corinthians 15:23 But Jesus answered them, saying, “The
hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. 24
Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls
into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it
produces much grain. 25 He who loves his life will lose it,
and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal
life. 26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I
am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him
My Father will honor.
What is Tares
Wheat Vs. Tares
Tares vs. Wheat When it’s Harvest Time
What We Ask God
Jeremiah 12:1 Righteous are You, O Lord, when I plead with You;Yet
let me talk with You about Your judgments. Why does the way of the
wicked prosper? Why are those happy who deal so treacherously? 2
You have planted them, yes, they have taken root; They grow, yes,
they bear fruit. You are near in their mouth But far from their mind. 3
But You, O Lord, know me;You have seen me,And You have tested
my heart toward You.Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter,And
prepare them for the day of slaughter. 4 How long will the land
mourn, And the herbs of every field wither? The beasts and birds are
consumed, For the wickedness of those who dwell there, Because
they said, “He will not see our final end.”
Tares vs. Wheat When it’s Harvest Time
Tares vs. Wheat When it’s Harvest Time
What the Bible says…
Mat 13:24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of
heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men
slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.
26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares
also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir,
did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28
He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do
you want us then to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while
you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both
grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the
reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn
them, but gather the wheat into my barn.” ’ ”
What the Bible says…
Mat 13:36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His
disciples came to Him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.”
37 He answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38
The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are
the sons of the wicked one. 39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is
the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. 40 Therefore as the tares are
gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. 41 The Son of Man
will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend,
and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire.
There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as
the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
Inside of Us
Inside of Us
What the Bible says…
Romans 7:15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do
not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with
the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is
present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I
will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I
will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
21 I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. 22 For I
delight in the law of God according to the inward man. 23 But I see another law in my
members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the
law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me
from this body of death? 25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
Final Points
1. The field that has both Wheat and Tares is not only in the World, the Church
but also Inside of us.
2. It is difficult to tell the difference between the two.
3. Inside of us is not just good, which there is, but also evil, and whichever gets
the most fertilizer or “food” is going to grow.
4. Remember your field is NOT going to be perfect, it WILL have tares in it.
