Now you all already know who I am, you know what position I am running for, so I will skip over the semantics as I am sure you have other pressing matters to attend to. When we were first accepted as candidates we were asked to answer three questions. What is the role of a College Captain, why would we make good College Captains and what kind of impact can we create as College Captains. Captains serve as the strongest figures for voicing student concerns relating to school, they have a duty to serve as role models for all their peers, and are expected to uphold the highest of standards as they represent our college and its values as a whole. The reputation that I have developed over my many years at this school speaks for itself. I am someone who is dedicated and determined when tackling any task or issue that comes my way. I am someone who has no qualms about speaking up and raising awareness when I see glaring issues around me. We as students are the most important group in any educational institution, thus it is only right that we have our voices heard whenever and wherever we see problems arise. Let me be your voice, for we as a collective are nothing unless we are united and act together to push for change when we see fit. Now I realise that many of you may simply be voting based on whoever is in your immediate social group, but consider this, this position is more than just a status symbol, it is more than just a badge and it is more than just a dot point on a resume. I will leave you with this quote: “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” Thank you.
