Working at Bazooms After reading working at Bazooms I realized the many different tactics that restaurants. I can understand. That much of the female population is upset and feels like these restaurants are degrading to women, but you have to realize that they are not being forced to do this and it is an open job choice. When you apply for the job you know what you're getting into and even if you don't realize what it's like until you work there you can always quit a job. A big reason why I would believe that many females would stay in this job position is even though they may have to endure different colors from the customers they probably get a much bigger tip because as it says in the article for not only serving food but "entertainment". So I am on neither side it's not the restaurant owners fault if this is how they want to pursue their business let it be and if the employees don't feel comfortable in the situation they are free to leave at any time. The one part I have a concern about is sexual harassment. I know that many of the employees in these restaurants are told not to talk back to the customers no matter what they say. But when does this become pushing off sexual harassment. There should be more people or managers monitoring the floor of the restaurant at all time to make sure that nothing that can be considered sexual harassment is done to these females. I understand another major issue that people feel is that these females are called girls not women, to appeal to the customers that they are innocent and the "girl next door" type. Even though their clothing is not very innocent. I believe that this is still just a business tactic which you cannot restrain them from doing. It's a free country and just as free as a business owners are to do this employees are free to leave if they feel they do not want to be part of an establishment like this. Working at Bazooms was on my favorite articles I felt like it was very interesting and very relatable to things that we do in class. Like the big conversation on sexisum and how sometimes women are mistreated or not treated equally to men or vice versa. This article really showed and many different sides to these restaurants. I'll still defend the business owners right to make their restaurant however they like as I do agree with our capitalist society. At the same time the well-being of these women cannot be infringed.
